hi guys i just blew my d16 motor up on my 1988 ed9 crx:(
any ideas on what to do ....should i rebuild d16a8?

or do a vtec b16a NA or b18c conversion etc??

any ideas on most practical solution appreciated.

1. you can rebuild d16a8, which is the cheapest option with same performance.
2. you can swap to b16a and turbo it will cost more than first option but better performance.
3. you can swap to b18c and turbo it will cost more than first 2 options but you will more power.
If you have good low budget so first option.

IMO turbo d16a8 better than stock b16 or b18, unless you want to turbo b16 or b18.
Btw did you post the engine too much ??

thanks for the feedback

i had the engine running 7 psi or 0.5bar boost pressure and plenty of fuel

however i think the stock internals didnt agree with my overreving and boost on the stock bottom end

oh well
im thinking i might remove the d16a8 and turbo kit and ...stick a b16a in with some nice stainless headers and tune

and sell my turbo kit as a bolt on complete kit

cheers mate

Build the d series for boost.....throw the turbo back on

A stock b series with headers and a tune won't be as quick as the setup you have now

What's your budget? If I were you I'd get another D16A8.

Where do you live btw? PM me, I have a sick D16A8 in my backyard that you could reco (just needs rings).

Find out what went wrong.
If it was tuned properly it should have survived on .5bar

Once the issues sorted throw another d16 in for peanuts

Also i would lower the Compression and build the engine to suit higher Psi ;). It will be enjoyable.

B16A/B18C if on a budget.
H22A if you have a bit more cash
K20/K24 if you have alot more cash

This is just my personal opinion, I'd go with the H22A but that's cause I'm a fan of the big old H series engines.

A built D series with an appropriate sized turbo is also something to look into, Bisimoto Engineering was able to pull 724whp out of a D16

that wagon is only FWD, not AWD.
