What are the 2 little hoses tat go to the boots on steering rack?

So i replaced the boots on my steering rack with new ones, there are 2 little tubes that go and connect to the boot, they are really small and i just cant get them back on, so fiddly. What do they do? And are they something that must go back on?

just to ventilate air when boot contracts/expand. incase grease squirts out too, it goes to the other boot instead of your engine bay.
idk for sure, just from observation.

Ok so its just the one tube going from one boot to the other, that makes sense. Just to make sure and to clear this up, I just put a nice big layer of grease around the ball joint and try and squeeze some grease in there, not fill up the whole entire boot with grease?

Guess I will keep trying to connect it together.
