According to Honda brochure, Jazz VTI AUTO should have 6.7 combined; 8.8 urban; 5.5 extra urban.
My average urban is 4.8 ,and I even had 4.2 (I took a picture in case nobody will believe me ;) ). Didn't took it on freeway yet. Perhaps is so low because I'm not going above 2500rpm's
What is yours? ...

there are alot of threads on fuel consumption already, please use the search function :)

7.2 for highway, and 8.0 for urban

it will take a while for it to be accurate usually have to do atleast 100kms before you can believe what the trip says, ontop of that it lies aswell.

but GD3 on 98RON driving it pretty hard accelerating every chance i get im hitting 6.9-7.0
but on regular i would get 7.2 for the same driving style but the 98RON is definately more sporty.

but as i said i have a gd3 so thats irrelevant :D

took it a bit hard now (not above 3000rpm though) and getting closer to 6.0 urban (usually 5.7).
@GU357.. never thought before to use 98ROM, I'll definitely try it.

@fillit. sorry :(, I did search and couldn't find another thread, or haven't saw it.
I'll pay more attention :)

im always running at around 2800 because thats what S mode puts it in, then when u accelerate its goes up into the 3000's which is where Vtec is i believe.
but thats just when i zoom through the residential streets on the open ie long distance 70 zones and the freeway i keep it in D cos theres no point being ready to accelerate when your not stopping and starting or going around corners.

but if im using 7 speed and going in residential i would be sitting abit higher then 3000rpm because the engine response coming out of corners is quite fun.

the best i can get is 6.0 (average), and i try to shift before 2.5k. gunning it every now and then brings it up to around 9.0...

vtec kicks in at 2200-3500, depending on the throttle position. i made my cluster light up blue when vtec kicked in, but it was quite annoying cos it came on when i drove normally. i ended up taking it out.

driving in S is more fun than D :P

Depends how you drive it, what petrol you fill in, where do you drive it. It is comprehensive.

yes VTec kicks at 2800 according to other threads ive read, apparently its written in the manual.
but yes its also variable on other paramaters

Driven my jazz for about 400kms and i'm getting 7.5L. Tank empties quicker than i thought it would but then again its a tiny tank. Running 95 now, might try out 98 next refuel. All in all 7.5L is not as low as i thought it would go but compared to 14.5l/100km on my Triton this is awesome!

hmm im, avoid letting vtec kick in, if u have a manual shift gears in lower RPM, it will save u fuel but remember making the engine slug along is also bad for it.
good luck

This vtech @ 2800 must be a CVT thing, cos i'm pretty sure it's 4K RPM for a manual.

I found the stock VTECH engine rann really well on 91 Ethanol blend. it's cheaper, and getting simular L/km as 95ron, but you will get more out of 98ron after a few tanks, (ECU needs to tune for the higher ron).

you know what's REALLY silly? after all my mods, and due to the fact that boost down REALLY kick in until 3.5Krpm, and it doesn't make AWESOME Pschhooow noises until you rev it past 4.5Krpm, my and i kick it in the guts up to redline, (set to 6200rpm) when ever i get a nice bit of road, i'm getting 9L/100km or there abouts, (due to bigger injectors, the ECU doesn't give a correct reading, as it's reading injector pulse, not fuel consummed).

usually get 380km out of 35L, if i drive nice, i can push to 400km

MIND you, VTECH should in our case, increase the engine's VE, so it might not be as bad as you think. Considering CVT should be programed to keep the RPM @ the engine's most effecient, and the gearbox do all the work...

correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the CVT have better numbers in fuel consumption than the manual? it's usually the other way round.

well it seems that in the manual its easier to keep it down, because ppl shift earlier, us CVT ppl like to pretend we cool so we play around with 7 speed and keep it in S mode. rather then driving like normal ppl.

That might also explains why so many CVTs are fkd out there..

nah the CVT damage has nothing to do with seven speed mode, it was hondas lack of research that lead to the CVT incident.

I think i read it from somewhere when they firstly introduced the CVT they didnt even have the right fluid for oz market...

well the same problem was in the US too but it was in the Civics (from what ive heard), must of scared everybody off the CVT.
shame though it was a good system.

Filled up the jazz with caltex 98 the other day and I've noticed a slightly more power. I know its an old debate but i'd thought i'd add in my 2 cents. I'm sticking with 98 when i fill the jazz from now on.
