how much can you safely shave the block/head to increase compression on d16zc Gen 1?

You mean D16A8 or ZC? No such thing as a D16ZC.

Probably 0.010 is safe.

brown top is rare,
use the piston off 2nd gen black top zc will give u better compress ratio.
u have to watch the limit of the head if u shave it.

Yeah it was brought from Japan cut in half and was welded together back in the days you could get them complied but the body is rusted and the engine has done 350,000km with no troubles so I'm giving her a birthday and transplanting into another AH civic.

Hmmm. Ask ~Sp33~ (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/member.php?10268-Sp33) he usually knows this kinda stuff. He's a bit of a D-soldier.

^ adjustable cam gears, your valvetrain possibly, maybe shotpeened pistons if you're chasing big power.

if you machine the head more then 0.020" (0.5mm) you will need adjustable cam gear to make up for the lose in timing.
