Hey guys, currently drive an EM1. Got a custom catback on the week end 2.25 diameter. Only mods on the car is an intake. Before I had the exhaust done, vtec sounded fine. After I had the exhaust done sounded sounded like it chokes or so as soon as vtec crosses over.

also, car is warmed up when I vtec it. Oils still good.

Anyone got any ideas on whats goin on ?

Did you reset your ecu? Your suppose to when you put mods on. So it can calibrate to your new airflow an whatnot.

It was custom at an exhaust shop. I doubt he bumped it, wouldn't be near there. :S

check your oil, vtec works on oil pressure
or drive til your petrol is almost empty and fill a full tank, might be contaminated petrol choking

could have a read on this http://preludehaven.forumotion.com/t112-how-to-vtec-solenoid-cleaning
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?53191-VTEC-Solenoid-Question...-B16A&

best off taking it to honda to get it checked

I don't see physically how... that could happen.

I had a similar issue in my old vti-r integra my issue ended up being that 1 of my chambers was getting oil in it so at the start when It would drive normal it was ok but when I would punch vtec it felt like a lag and defiantly sounded like a muffled vtec ( keep in mind my issue basically turned my 4 spark plugs into 3 because one plug kept failing due to oil immersion and couldn't fire up the chamber).

Did they disconnect your 02 sensor or move/unplug it? Is the CAT Convertor in good condition or maybe it is leaking? Does the car jerk or cause a lumpy idle or even check your vtec solenoid maybe it is on it's way out. Look over all the plugs & pipes in the bay even take your intake off and spray some carby cleaner in it just to clean the TB.

It really seems weird that your issue occurred after a new exhaust. How long has the exhaust been installed for now? Could the exhaust have a hole in it after install? I recall you should go on a 1 hour long drive to let the new exhaust feel welcome
