Hi guys ,

looking at buying a EG5 , but it has about 255,000 km on it ,

the owner reckon it has been very well look after but with the km , i'm still worries

should i look for one that has under 200,000 km or go ahead and buy it ?

Cheers

If it has been looked after and not thrashed and serviced on time it should go for ages still

thing would need replacing eventually, as all the parts are 15+ years old. chek the oil, see if its blowing smoke wen driven( get a friend to follow you wen driving it) take note of the color of the smoke, and do a compression test

I bought an eg with 335000kms on it and i kid you not.. it was the best eg I've driven..

depends on how it's been looked after. a car with 150kms could be in poorer condition then a car with 300kms.

do all your normal checks and go from there. kms is more of a timeline.. not an indication of how good the car is.

most EGs would have more than 200k on them. as above, if it's been looked after it would still go for ages.

my bro has a 1991 eg gl which is getting close to the 400k mark, and he doesn't look after it that well. so just a testament to Honda engineering

Just get it inspected properly by somebody who knows their stuff. If it's healthy buy it, maintain it, and you'll see 400 maybe.

what year model is it?

my eg is a 92 model with 230 Ks on it, it's been almost 20 years now and normal everyday driving in a car is supposed to be 20000 kms/year; technically mine should have done 400 000 ks of normal driving but yeh :p i guess 200000 is pretty low ks for an eg bahahaha

Eg 120000kms not looked after engine fxcked up and all, hardly taken care of. Or 250000 oil change every x amount of kms babied by owners. You take the pick. For a car at that age, you cant really complain with the kms.
