does anyone have any experience with the throw over seat covers?

thinking of getting these

do they protect your seats the same way a normal seat cover would? or are they just a temporary seat cover?

cheers

Hi mate,

They protect your car but they look pretty cheap imo. It's baggy and doesn't attempt to mould to your seat at all. That said, it will protect your seat just like any other seat cover, but won't protect them from friction wear (i.e. leather rubbing) as they move around just as much as you do. Some more fitted ones are better as they will take most of the wear, better protecting your seat.

They can be used every day, but are more of a temporary seat cover - great for tradies or if you're planning to get dirty a lot and want something easy to slip on and off. Nice and easy to put on before work on a Monday, and slip off on a Friday night before you go out.

I have a set of black cheapo slip ons for my EK1, seats are the regular fabric which wears well enough as they are but I use the throw overs just to protect from gunk and spills. Depends on the sort of fabric you're looking to protect, if it's leather I'd recommend looking at getting a set of genuine seat covers from Honda. They won't be that expensive, around $100 or less for the front covers and they'll most likely be covered under a manufacturer warranty if they degrade over the time of usage. As for regular seats, throw overs should be fine. Depends on personal preference as well.

I work for Toyota in spares, we charge $109 for rolla genuine front seat covers. I'd be surprised if Honda sell them for any more.

getting seat covers for leather seats defeats the entire purpose of having leather seats.

It was just a general statement. I see it all the time. Customer pays an extra 500 bucks to get the good leather seats. Then puts covers over them.

i agree i too have seen it happen, im not sure what the fuss over leather seats is about, it seems they are always slippery and they dont breath well unless its full of holes, i would take fabric seats anyday.

Honda dont make genuine car seat covers. Not in Australia anyway. Toyota are probably the only car manufacturer in Aus to sell genuine car seat covers to a great range of their vehicles. Some other companys have genuine covers but only for a few different models. If you want seat covers for your car check out www.inlandaustralia.com.au and www.thewetseat.com

yeah axs covers are decent... if your after a loose baggy throw over. Its probably better than the other loose baggy throw over brands considering the price. For a proper fitting seat cover your talking about a whole different field :)
