an intake would make the vtec cross over more clearer

if its the 97 model prelude youre talking about, crossover isnt loud.
engine is a dohc h22a, intake will make the crossover more loud

A VTEC crossover? What are you talking about?

If you mean can you hear it when it crosses over into VTEC, then you absolutely can, assuming of course you don't have a stupidly loud exhaust the drowns it out.

This is from 1st hand experience I own a 1998 Prelude and the crossover is very noticeable, if you were in the Newcastle area I'd be happy to show you.

The VTEC engagement point is at 5500RPM by the way.

i have a bb6 prelude vtir.
when i had the stock airbox the crossover was noticeable but kinda in the quiet side.
i have bought a injen cai and still waiting on it.
however i went to supercheap yesterday and spent $96 on pod filter, and a 45 degree silicon pipe to attach to the stock pipe and hose clamps. only thing i took off was the top of the airbox and the stock panel filter. now it roars.

How'd the injen CAI go for sound?

I spraying out the throttle body the othe rday with car cleaner and took off my type S intake (i.e. TB only and without filter) I took it up and down the street and it was HOLY FRICKEN LOUD!!

the crossover is more noticable on the H22a with a Skunk2 Intake Manifold and a Fujita CAI

very nice engine + car =)

that one had:

whats up, i had a magnaflow high flow cat and a skunk 2 intake manifold and skunk 2 68 mm throttle body. I also had a v2 aem intake. Those things increased airlow greatly and definitely increased the sound of vtec.

any car with a variable lift system such as vtec will have a "crossover"... i recommend you do some reading to understand what "VTEC" exactly is... whether you can hear it or not depends on a lot of things explained above... rest assure, it is there... unless you have a busted VTEC solenoid
