Need help identifying this part

Hey guys i just recently bought a DC2R Airbox for my EM1, i went to mount it on today but i found a little problem.

That thing (highlighted in Blue) is in the way of my mounting position, does anyone know what it is and is it safe to remove?
The only thing that is connected to it is the little piece of grounding wire (highlighted in Red) and where im suppose to mount the airbox to is (highlighted in Green)
As you can see i need to remove that unknown part in order to use that hole to mount the box.

lol yes it is, i did mention it in my post. Its just ground wire.

i just removed the ugly part and the car is still together.
