So I got a strange problem. My #1 cylinder refuses to run at idle but ONLY after VTEC and ONLY sometimes :\ Like maybe once a week...

If I give the car a few revs it comes back to normal, no CEL's nothing.

Car has new spark plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor, everythings pretty well maintained. When I pulled the plugs the #1 cylinder was a diff colour to the rest.

Strange thing is the car usually runs mint as, no loss of power, no smoke, nothing. Any ideas?

if #1 wasnt firing at idle you would notice the engine vibrating and missing. how do you know its an ignition issue. The distributor, coil and ICM does not know of individual cylinders and just repeatedly fires the coil and the rotor button and cap distribute the spark the the appropriate cylinder. Only the Leads and spark plugs could affect an individual cylinder for spark. If you going by reading the plugs then you need to check your

- ECU
- Injectors
- Injector Resistor ( if you have one )
- Wiring for the Injectors
- Injector power blanking block ( part of the loom that distributs 12v to all injectors )
- cylinder compression
- valves
