View Full Version : DIY [EK] : How to check is the low fuel light working or not

Note:
This is my first write up on DIY section , please excuse my English/Grammar

Aim:
To check is the low fuel light work

Required:
Couple of basic tools ,
Spanner set
Screwdrivers
wire to test

1:
Remove the rear seat (check other DIY if you don't know how to)

2:
Remove the access panel by undo those screws

3:
This is the plug that we're looking for , pull the cover off , undo the plug

4:
Here's how to test it ..
- use the spare wire and put it in the plug between yellow/green wire and black wire
- turn the ignition ON , but! not start the car
- if the light is still working , it will show on the cluster

- if the light's not showing , check the bulb in the cluster

5:
if you want to check your fuel gauge ..
- put the spare wire in the plug between yellow wire and black wire
- just see if the needle moving that's all !! do not let it hit the full , this might damage the gauge

That's it , let put everything back

Hopefully , this will help someone who might be interested to know if their low fuel light is working without taking a risk and run it down till there is no fuel at all

Thanks for the DIY man. Will be very helpful.
Sounds like a lot of EK's have the problem of the fuel light not working or the bulb being out so a great way to test.

good writeup before doing all that,, just give the cluster a good o'l little tap,, see it's stuck or anything

works on majority of cars charles,, just to check if it has power source and earth source,, if it does obviously unit will not work

Just about to say the same thing , pretty much the same principle on most car ,

just check on your EG , if you have the same plug (photos shown no:3) , then , will be the same procedure
