Hi, just wondering what is the reason you want to do this for?

At the rate im using my car, i will drive it for 25-30k a year. i will be changing my oil about 4-6 times a year. to make my life easier and convenient when changing oil in my garage, i dont want to always have to crawl underneath my car and almost break my fingers just to change the oil filter.

Drain plug is easy to remove, if the filter is easy to change somewhere in the bonnet. i dont need to bother to book my car in workshop when its due. after 4 diy oil change the money spent to relocate the oil filter will pay for itself.

I know i still need to take it to a workshop for other more serious service.

just a thought -

Consider the initial cost , plus extra oil required , plus possible adjustment of oil pressure relief (due to drop in oil pressure ) plus fittings which are likely to leak - And the only pro/benefit is that you dont want to get dirty hands. Id consider to invest in jack stands and a decent jack , and or a piece of plywood etc to protect your back as you lay on the ground. Do it right the first time - dont throw money at something totally obscure and lazy , which in this case works worse than standard.

Thanks for the advise. Apperciate it mate. Of all the cons you mentioned, I think my laziness is worth the trade off. my only concern is the drop in oil pressure. I agree there will be. but I thought it wont be significant drop that it will affect the operation of the engine.

Have you had experienced to install or knew a car with a relocator that had problems with the pressure? I thought others even add a oil cooler on the relocator. That will be even more pressure drop.

And I never though you can adjust the pressure of your oil pump?

Also my car is automatic. this my affect the gear changing if the drop is significant......

If you're not putting a cooler in, and if the car is just a street car, honestly, I just wouldn't bother.
With a remote filter location, this needs to be check regularly as well - you just unnecessary points of failure.

Instead, I recommend getting a Honda oil filter removal tool. It looks like this and is dirt cheap. With this tool, even removing the oil filter at an awkward angle is easy.

Yep. now i agree with you guys. sorry for being stuburn. i just realise the oil filter is so easy to access on a r18. not worth any of this trouble. I initially thought of this because i use to have a d16 dohc. the oil filter was a bitch to take off.

You can get something similar from auto barn.

Just clamps on and undo with a ratchet 15 dollars

IMO those filter things are pointless and a waste of money. Don't over tighten the oil filter when u service ur car, u then shouldn't have a problem taking it off the next time u service it.

And it's hard to get those oil ratchet things in and move aroud coz there is no room to move about in some cars.

Just my view on them, if worse comes to worse and u can't take the oil filter off, smack a big flat head screw driver thru it with a hammer and use it for leverage

Used to use those and they don't work well if you are at an odd angle or in a tight spot.

i service my car every 5000km or 6month and i have no problem.. at first use that oil filter clamp to loosen it and after that you can use ur hand to twist the filter off.

after a while of changing the oil yourself, u get use to it and do it in lik 30mins
