Hi, I've imported my DC5 into Melbourne (from Ireland) and I'm about to start the process of getting it certified to drive on the roads here.
I know what the value of the 2002 ADM market cars are but how much more highly revered are the JDM specs ones? I don't know the differences between them yet but I'm split between finishing off my upgrade path (KPRO and some bolt-on mods) which I have most of in my boot :) Or selling it and getting a car more suited to my surfing habits!
Also, can anyone recommend a good honda mechanic who can work with/on my car in the melbourne area? Thanks!

Welcome abourd!
The difference between JDM & AUDM DC5Rs:
- More Power JDM 160kw/200nm AUDM 147kw/192nm
- JDM 17" rims (10 spoke)
- Brembos!
- Cluster limited to 180kmph
- Intake mainfold
- Lighter flywheel
- Less restrictive exhaust system
- Higher compression ratio
- Different cams
- Higher final drive
- Thicker sway bars 22mm vs 18mm
- OEM HID headlights
You might be able to get more for your car (depending if you can actually register it here - hope you researched that)
I'd say it would be 3-5k above the local model depending on condition of the car
It will probably be alot harder to sell though than local models as there are less hassles
But I know for sure you wont have any issues selling the brembo's if you part out lol
Dont know who you can use as a mechanic - I'll leave that to the Melb boys
u mad?

Is everyone misspelling aboard intentionally?
I'd say you might get a few thousand over a local model, especially if it is white.

Thanks for the replies guys. I literally just went out to the customs warehouse to pick her up but they shut at 2:30pm :( (they could have told me!)
Anyways, they did let me see her, which was the first time in months... I kinda got a bit emotional ;)
Considering customs charged me $815 to power wash the car (it was immaculate when it went into the 20ft container in Ireland), it was absolutely filthy !!!
Getting it Oz certified is relatively straightforward ... i.e I need a road worthiness check, a VASS inspection (I know I'll need some sort of baby seat modification to the back and possibly a different standard tyre), the Vic Roads need to give it their blessing before they give me Ozzy plates.
I'll clean her up and post pics tomorrow :)
I'm based in Northcote, Melbourne.
Any of you guys do meet ups or anything? Looking forward to meeting fellow Honda & DC5 people.

As Bludger says, there are heaps of DC5 owners (like myself) over at ClubITR (http://www.clubitr.com.au/) and we are having a meet on the 27th of November, it would be great if you could come along.

Edit: It's an 02 model with 137k on the clock. Not many mods:
Fujitsubo powergetter
RBC intake manifold
K&N filter & hondata mod
Eibach springs and camber arms (with some neg camber set)
Goodridge break lines
Jackson Torque Damper
NRG engine mounts
Short shifter
(Have a spoon 4-2 and a 2-1 catback ready to go into it ... and of course I'll probably get a KPRO)
