Just upgraded my rear away bar on my integra vtir, with a blox 21mm.
I'm after a subframe brace now to also support it.
Any options out there, eg. Brands?
Thnks

you could drive the car forever and not have an issue without one. or you could tear the subframe in a week.

its insurance.

What brand you get is pretty much just based on how much you wanna spend, and what look you want.

personally, id go an ASR

Yeah I was thinking asr as well,
Does it depend what asr brace I get, obviously il be getting it for my teg but will they all clear the 21mm sway bars? Or is there different types for different sway bar sizes?

21mm is no problem at all
Do you have D bracket and bushing to suit your sway bar ?
We got ASR subframe brace in stock

it will clear your swaybar. you can get any subframe brace, but to me it really depends on the strength of the bolts. but asr will work fine for you

Yeah I installed the sway bar already, got the d brackets with it, but I used the oem bolts

ASR all the way, been proven to work, and its insurance guarantee! Heaps of ppl run it, even me, and no signs of subframe tear, purely because its something that has had R&D

2nd best option is Function 7, but cost an arm an leg!

Stay away from beaks.

IF ur cheap alternative, ebay, like BWR or OBX, same design as ASR, but cheaper and fitment is questionable, but other wise, you pay for what u get for.

Function7 is a ripoff.

Get either a Blackworks Racing (BWR) or ASR. They're about the same price, and they all do the same thing (the genuine ones anyway).

I agree F7 is a rip, its just a girdle LOL, but i guess where the money goes is the CNC machining of the actual bar itself, hours upon hours..... And believe me, CNC maching is expensive and takes yonks if u want a good finish, ive used cnc maching before so im not just talking from my bum lol

Does the asr come with everything you need. Eg all bolts,brackets...
I noticed that when I took the stock 14mm sway bar off it had rubber washers on either ends of the bar, with the blox bar I used normal washers not rubber, any problems there?

mugen_ctr

yes comes with all nuts an bolts to fit it up, only thing u need to supply is the D-brackets, bushes and obvious the swaybar itself. Once u run this though, u can no longer run oem 14mm swaybar as the d - brackets are way to small.

Iv used the d brackets that came with the sway bar, unless your tryna say that the Asr brace won't work with the d brackets iv got on atm?
Are the d brackets the ones that are in the middle, one on the left and other right? Bit of a noob!
Do you have to use rubber washers on the endlinks? Or are normal washers alright?

ASR doesnt come with D-brackets, the things that hold the Sway bar onto it so u will need to use the blox brackets, except for when u purchase the whole package with the brace itself as well as the ASR swaybar kit, which than it comes with everything to plug and play.

as far as the washers go, it should be fine, rubber is preferred if u dont want noise though, but metal washers with lube/grease would still do the same trick. Metal on metal contact without some sort of grease will wear out very quick, so its a must to put grease.

Depending on the Bush material, u might also need to grease the inside of the bush as well to prevent premature wear for the swaybar bush

Is there any grease in particular to use or any grease will do?

trism
07-11-2011, 03:20 PM
yeah, you need rubber grease.

go to a parts store, and ask for rubber grease.

What's the price range on asr braces?

mugen_ctr
07-11-2011, 07:05 PM
JDM yard sells em, but maybe u can try ebay as well, prices will be cheaper as well. IMO, if u wanna save money, go for ebay an get it from USA. But make sure the seller is a authorized seller of ASR or else u mite be stuck with the fake copy.

watch out for fakes of the asr there some ways of telling just google it up. but yeah i'd go ASR OR if your got the $ and want the looks function 7 i had function 7 in my eg always looking blinging but was pretty costly. blackworks has its ups and downs according to most people who have used the product. but yeah don't waste your money on a fake just keep a eye out for a good deal.

Just want to clarify that yes jhpusa is a genuine distributor of those ASR braces. Just a headsup if you want the ASR sooner rather then later go JHP if u want to wait over 3 weeks for it then go WEK
