Hey guys
The A/C in my dc5r makes a metal scraping noise when on from the engine bay, this stops as as soon as i switch the aircon off
tried to look up some info and it seems to be that the aircon compressor needs to be replace ( or at least thats what i think it might be )
and the aircon even when on is not cold at all ( prolly needs to be regased )
anybody else had / has this problem
and any ideas what it could be
where can i get it fixed and how much would it cost roughly ??
cheers

Check first if the aircon compressor clutch is engaging. If you look at where the serpentine belt is, the inner/centre section of the aircon pulley clutch should also be spinning when the A/C switch is turned on. If it does not rotate the same speed as the outer part of the pulley contacting the belt and you hear the scraping noise, then the clutch is damaged. If the entire assembly is rotating fine, then the problem is in the compressor itself. You're looking at anywhere between 800-1000 for a new/aftermarket compressor.

how long it been like that for? its the noise is deff coming from the compressor and not cold id change the compressor and recyver dryer...maybe the cluch shit itself or something but yea i dunno how much a compressor is, with out seeing the car its abit hard, do all the lines look ok nothings rubbed threw or anything causeing it to leak and the compressor to stop?
