Hi First time post so here goes

Firstly take a look at this MDX Navigation on the USA models

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/230692993076?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1123wt_1185

I want to upgrade my 2003 Honda MDX to have OEM Navigation . Do you think if I purchase this unit on eBay

Would the Honda Australian Navigation Disk work ?

Which Australian disk is it and how would I get one within a reasonable price range ?

Has anyone successfully tried this and got it to work ? USA Honda/Acura navigation units to work on the equivalent Australian Models ? Accord / Euro / Odyssey ?

I have a good feeling it would work because everything fits .

If it does work it opens up a good eBay market to get units into the country and start converting Non navigation Honda's to Factory OEM Navigation Honda's

1 . My Doubts are mostly about the DVD Drive .... Will it be region coded and only read USA Disks only ?

2 . Will the Honda Australia Whereis DVD Map software load and successfully work on the OEM USA Acura MDX Navigation unit ?

Any contribution to this Thread to point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated
.
If anyone wants to send me a copy of a Honda Australian Map Disk to to test on the USA Models this would help and results will be posted .

Its a massive expense and may not work ... A Lot of risk and after thinking about it and advice from friends its all a bit to hard .

If you are still keen on the Idea this guy may be able to help you . But he wasnt all that friendly and wanted a $100.00 consult fee for his time ? Like WTF ?

I may just go with a IPhone4 Adaptor

Thanks for letting me know. I might go with plan B and replace the Radio/cassette unit with a Multi media unit. For 12-1500 bucks you get Sat Nav, blutooth, iPhone connectivity and reverse camera - however on the down side its postioned a bit low becaue they can only put it where the radio cassette is.

Thanks again

My Opinion

The first device is compatible with the second device . If I was going to purchase a unit tomorrow I would purchase these .

The Automatic Shifter when in Park may impede the device open and closing ( But that may need to be checked first ? )

But it has a Tilt feature which maybe handy ?
