i am installing fog lights and need to find a place that provides +12V only when the headlights or parking lights are on. I can get this from tapping into the +ve wire at the headlights but i was wondering if there is a place to do this in the fusebox inside the car (saves me putting even more wires through the firewall).

Preferably from the steering column/fuse box near the switch, if the switch has an indicator light.

If not, Preferably in the engine bay somewhere.....

Assuming you're using relays and doing it properly.

Mount the relay near the original headlight wiring loom, then splice the directly into the loom to get the input....... close to relay.....

nomsayin?

PS - if its OEM style fog lights then get the source from park lights.

does your switch have an indicator light?

Where do you intend to mount your relay?

well i want to mount the relay in the dash so there are less wired going through the firewall.
im not sure what you mean by an indicator light? the headlight switch is on the same bar thing as the indicators if thats what you mean. or do you mean does the switch have a light to tell me whether it is on or not? im using a JDM foglight switch which will illuminate when the lights are turned on

yeah, the switch has an indicator light to tell you that your lights are on......

Mount relay under your feet, like same spot as ECU, but on the drivers side.

get switched input from the parking lights..... from fusebox me thinks...... or somewhere near there....

that input then goes to the switch, then from switch to relay.......

relay to fog lights.......

that way, you'll only need 1 wire passing through the firewall.

make sure you fuse it with the correct fuse.....

the foglights origionally had a 20A fuse for each light should i do the same or have one 30A fuse for both? other foglight systems all have 30A thats the only reason i would have used that.
where on the fusebox would i find the switched input? should i just dig around with a multimeter? or take it from the headlight fuse itself

I actually went out to my car to check, I was curios too.

Get your source from "license lights"

what fuse you use depends on what globes you use....
