Hey guys
As the title? would a cracked heater hose cause steam/smoke to come through my dash?
I asked this because i just done an EFI conversion, and today was the 1st day i took it for a serious drive and after about 20mins i had steam pouring through my dash into the car and my coolant is low...
Would you think this was caused by a cracked heater hose or would this be something more serious? Temp on my dash was just under half, and when i opened the bonnet there was nothing, engine felt fine.
Also i can hear like a gurgling noise which i presume is the heater hose?
Thanks guys, sorry if its a shitty question :)

the hose itself being split would not cause steam build up inside the cabin as all hoses are in the engine bay.
Where you rough when undoing the hoses on the heater box in the engine bay. where they a bitch to get off ? if so its possible you have damaged the heater box and at is leaking internally and steaming into the vents.
you should pressure test the cooling system. if you have damaged the heater core, be prepaired to remove the dash.

They were a bitch to get off.. would and would the heater box damaged be why i maybe loosing coolant?
How hard is it to replace the heater core? and sorry bout the silly question but if its damaged would it ruin the engine if i keep driving it?
Thank you!

if you keep driving the car with coolant loss, you will overheat the engine and then you will crack/warp the head.
to confirm the heater core is your problem, first look for coolant leaking on the carpet in the centre of under the dash. Coolant would be building up in the Heater core box and possibly making its way to the AC Evaporator that has a external drain ( firewall near the battery down low ) look for coolant leaking out of it.
if you confirm the coolant is leaking from the heater core then to repair or replace it you have to
- remove stearing colum
- remove the dash board
- evacuate the AC Gas
- remove the evaprator
- then remove the Heaterbox
- open the heaterbox
- either replace or have the core repaired
- reasemble

And if there is no coolant leaking from under the dash or from the drain?
bigger issue?
Thanks ECU

you really should pressure test the cooling system to see what your problem is.
good luck dude

if it is a heater core that has gone, I have a complete HVAC including core I can send up to syd for probably no more than $150

Will take pictures and post them tonight. It comes in three sections. One has your fan motor, one is ducting & the last has the heater core in it
