hi guys - first time poster here.

today was 30+ and my aircon was blowing hotter air than outside. it was on lowest temp already and half-blasted fan. my car is tinted and i was wondering if a dash mat will help? mind you, my car was also parked on a shaded area.

any advice on how i can fix this?

ta.

ps. i have a civic 2010 vti

Get a One of those things u put on your windshield, (from the inside lol) forgot what they're called lol mind blank..

Dash matt is more so your dashboard doesn't crack over time I believe. But could possible help the temperature of the car inside wen parked in the sun. Won't be too effective IMO

EDIT- sun visor was the word I was lookin for lol

The air conditioner became cold after a few minutes right?

Old Honda air conditioners aren't that efficient. Doesn't matter what's covering, when the temperature builds up in a sealed car, it's like a green house.

you sure the AC is working? doesn't sound like it. Just cos the fan is blowing and the AC switch is on doesn't mean the compressor is running.

i was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the way home and i was getting delirious inside my mobile sauna. it didn't become cool at all.

well, it was working this morning while it was slightly cooler...

i got it serviced and apparently nothing is wrong with it? how can i check if the compressor is running?

I think I'm having similar issue here.
I was driving up to Sunshine Coast this morning and my aircon was working flawlessly, eventhough it was 31 degree this arvo.
On my way back home, the aircon was blowing hot air and I tried to turn it off, wait a few minutes then turned it on again (The I.T. Crowd recipe :p ) and it worked fine for a minute then it started blowing hot air again.
I then noticed that the AC compressor only works the first time, then after the thermostat kicked in, it doesn't turn back on again.
I sweat like pig under 31 degree sun during the 2 hour drive... Not a good day.. :(
I have booked an inspection with Austral Honda tomorrow but I was hoping someone in this forum can help me before I spent $$$.. I'm pretty broke ATM.. :(
I hope it won't require a major service...
Thank you in advance.

could be anything.

switch, fuse, relay, aircon gas.

Theres no way to tell without inspecting it.

I had an 3rd gen accord and its AC gas needed recharging and it did the same thing that the OP is saying.

How much did it cost you for a re-gas?

My car used R-12 so i would have needed a complete flush, oil change and upgrade to R138 so i didn't bother i just pressed the open button my the power window switch.

Apparently my FD has a self mending feature as the aircon has been working fine since yesterday morning.
I assume it's caused by the switch transistor got overheated the other day due to the scorching sun.
