Hi guys
I drive a DC5S and has always filled it with BP ultimate and shell v power
Didn't notice 7-eleven also sell 98
and the price of the 7 eleven 98 is like 10 cents cheaper than ultimate and v power
has anyone tried them?
are they crap? or just same fuel different badge?

7-eleven took over all the Mobil service stations Australia wide.
Weather they still use Mobil to supply the fuel is unknown to me.
Mobil was my preferred 98 when it was around.....

Besides the price difference, how's the mileage and others pan out compared to the other 98 fuels?

if you have filled up Mobil 98ron before ..then i would suspect that it would be the same on (normal conditions and use) if filling up at 711.
so in reality compare 711 (fomerly Mobil) vs Shell, Caltex, Bp 98rons ...then go from there.
711 claims they are using Mobile petrol ..whereas previously they were using Shell as their suppliers..

Well
if there is no down side for using their 98
I might give it a try since it is like $5 saving per tank
+ my housemate works there...so I always get free coffee LOL

free coffee LOL
x2 to this ... just make friends with the service attendants and you can get free stuff ...especially in emergencies where there are no public toilets ...if your mates with the attendant ...they let u use their "place of zen" ...

Exactly, however since it's really uncertain which fuel they're using exactly. I'd like to know, if any, a better comparison now, than from the past results of Mobil vs Shell + Rest

how is it uncertain?
They clearly state they're moving towards the one supplier ie. Mobil.

I think you should fill up a few tanks, make a comparison and let us know.
Because I doubt anyone has tried yet.:)

i havent tried 711 yet until now i knw they will be using Mobil ...
so i might give it a try and see how clean, responsive, total klms on a full tank is by using 711.
ive tried the others and my personal opinion as follows;
All 98rons driving at normal vs vtecccing conditions with minimal mods I/H/E :)
Mobil
Normal
- 450-480klms
- no black carbon residue in the rear
VTEC
- 380-450klms
- 50/50 level .. responsive / economy
Shell
Normal
- 400-420klms
- major black residue at the rears
VTEC
- 350-380klms
- very responsive and u can feel the power.
- idle abit rough but not as bad
Caltex
Normal
- 400-430klms
- Responsive and car drives smooth
VTEC
- 350-370klms
- fuel just burns out too quick
- idle is steady
- moderate carbon residue
BP
Normal
- 400-460klms
- Smooth @ idle
- economy feel.
VTEC
- 360-410klms
- abit sluggish
- minimal carbon residue
Gas n GO
Normal
- 370-400klms
- very sluggish
- lots of carbon residue
- idles crap
VTEC
- 320 - 350klms
- loss of power
- fuel burns too quick
= shit
thats from my personal experience....
but obviously the results will differ from others style of driving, outside temp, engine tune/conditions etc.

Mobil only went to 7 11 in the eastern states. In SA most of them went to Perigrine corporation (On The Run) or local distributor outlets. Not sure what happened in WA.

No, not entirely true.
ACCC wouldn't allow one company to buy out all the Mobil petrol stations, it was branched out and a few independents such as liberty & united have bought the old Mobil Petrol Stations aswell.
If i recall Caltex was going to jump the gun and buy out all of Mobil's Service Stations but the ACCC wouldn't allow it as it would effect competition way to much and Caltex would control more then 50% of the market.

X2 ..
It was Shell not Caltex.
Shell is a worldwide fuel provider and Caltex is not as much as Shell. Hence why the ACCC did not allow Shell to buy it out as they cover 70% of fuel servos nationally. Even out in the bush pigs area :p
