Hey guys, my dc2r is up for new front rotors and pads. Just wondering what combination would you suggest for street driving (yes.. some spirited driving too).
Preferably one level up from OEM rotors and pads in terms of performance.
And where to get them from as well if you don't mind telling.
Cheers

RDA Gold slotted/dimpled with Project Mu Bspec (provided your not tracking) & if you are tracking Type HC+ on the front

ds2500 squeals too much for my liking...
and dba4000 cracks under pressure from what i've read around forums.. even though i wont abuse it as much as track driving...
i know heaps of members here use this combo, but yeh a bit reluctant because of the above

If you want Bang for ya bucks I'd recommend Remsa, I tried all sponsor when trying to re rotor/ replace pads and came to the conclusion that most Jap pads are over priced and unavailable for my FD1. Out of desperation I threw in some REMSA and to say these are good is an understatement, I matched em up to some DBA4000 slotted. Rated to 650C, quiet and not too dusty. Also only $89 for the front and $79 for the rears. Steve

well i've been running ds2500 for 2years now, 3track days and its still going! no squeals at all since i've slipped in abit of copper grease by penrite. with performance pads they might squeal to optimum running temps then after that it'll be alright. slotted rotors help in evenly wear out the pad so might aswell upgrade your rotors.

Apparently oem style rotors + good quality pads are fine for daily driving.
So maybe you shoulder consider machining your discs only.

The 282mm setup on the dc2r has ample stopping power.
DBA4000 & Ferodo's are on Vtir 262mm setup.
street use, wouldn't need upgrade, but people do it anyway....
cos they can....

rotors are too thin to be machined. so need new rotors and ill just get new pads while im at it.
would rda slotted 282mm be alright for street?

this, lol.
op, dba4000 with ds2500's
can't go wrong for street use (besides a little dust),i'm sure there are plenty of members here that have used this setup on the track with no problems.
Don't forget to upgrade to braided brake lines and use good brake fluid like rbf600 or some shit.

i met a guy at honda nats who cracked his dba4000 on the day.
im actually thinking of getting brembo blanks from the states for half of the price of dba locally.

I used to run DBA4000 and after two track days at Winton, the amount of surface cracks that had started to appear really put me off. Don't get me wrong, for street use they are a great rotor, but IMO I wouldn't use them for track again. At my most recent track day a couple of weeks ago I tried out RDA gold slotted/dimpled with Project Mu Club Racer front/B spec rear and they have held up alot better than the DBA's did.

thing is, its not just him, there are heaps of stories going around, cant say they all did the same as that guy....
Cooling down lap is a must on track day . It doesn't matter if you are on RDA , DBA , PMU or Endless rotors.
Those RDA slotted rotors lasted for 4 to 5 track days on my EGK24A old brake set up. Nothing wrong with RDA slotted rotors , DBA 4000 series lasted a little bit longer than RDA .

seriously if your asking these questions your not driving the car hard enough.
RDA will hold up fine, and at about 1/3 of the price they are worth getting.
I ran Acre pads in my on the track and they held up fine. I was also putting out 172kwatw, which is alot more than your stock dc2r.
All i ran was OEM dc2r rotors with acre pads all round. No issues at all after 2 track day outtings.
Also Yonas drives alot harder than most of you guys. If he's making them last 4-5 days on his monster k24, most you will be getting at least 4-5 times that.
