Hi guys,

I just have a quick question. In my del sol I had to replace the radiator as th ol one was leaking. I got one from a fellow member an its the same thickness. It seems that there was a thin half size radiator put in the car. My mates em1 has a thicker radiator. Now do i need i need to worry about having a thinner radiator? Will this cause me any cooling issues?

Cheers

Juan

It seems like its a d series radiator with a b series engine. Will that work?

D series radiators are 28mm hose.
B series are 32mm.

yes, you can make it work.

I don't recall saying that to you.

Saying - it's not what you have, it's how you use it.

I can't answer your question because i don't if you drive like a fkn maniac or a granny.

Best to provide as much detail as possible in your 1st post to get the best possible answer.

After reading your 1st post several times, I'm still confused.
Personally, I wouldn't replace anything on my car with a different item unless i knew exactly what i was doing.

eg. if i didn't know about cooling systems, i would just replace it with a brand new radiator that is specified for my car.

why buy second hand? why replace it with something you're not sure about.

Pictures will sure help a lot here.
Also your intended use.......

Hi there,

I needed a replacement radiator for now. I posted on wanted that i needed n b16a radiator and the guy supplied me one from d series. I will speak to him about it. The one that is in the car atm looks like its a its a d series radiator. Its been running in that ine for about 1 year. I do not drive like a maniac, but i do give it a boot here and there. The ons that is in the car now was installed by a pro. The car was in a minor accident and the radiator was broken. The radiator is like 12mm thick.

All i want to know is what i have now, will it be fine for me to use? I am only replacing with a second hand part as i will be doing a type r conversion in the near future.

If you think i am wasting my time then say so.
Cheers

If you're just intending to use your car for daily use then any radiator should be fine.

From memory dc2r radiator is around 12mm thick as well.

Thhe biggest problem i see you having (if the radiator is from a D series motor) is getting the hoses on properly without leaking coolant.

Like i said, B series gear is 32mm diameter compared to D series 28mm.

In a nut shell, if you're just daily driving, I wouldn't worry too much.

Yeh, your first post is a little confusing. But as said you'll be fine taking that everything else is functioning ok.

If anything, the thinner radiator will just make your engine water temp to go up quicker and then the fan will kick in and drop the temp again. The cycle will be slightly quicker. The system will be able to cope fine.
