2BSEEN b20 vtec build

Hey all :wave:

So I've have a 89 CRX with jdm B16A a swap.
I have been doing mods and tuning it for some time and love to hear the vtec cross over and the high reving rpm.

I also have a ek 1 cxi 97 civic.
After driving the CRX the civic sucks balls :zip:
I thought i could sell it to make way for another crx but due to cars not selling and very few offers i have changed my mind.

So my plans now are to keep the civic.

Here's a quick list on what i am going to do

1) Remove the d16y for a b20 vtec

2) Wire tuck, doing a engine swap may as well make it neat

3) Respray engine bay for the wire tuck

4) Respray the whole car in the same super sonic blue maybe with some black splashed in there

5) Post a entire build thread, pictures and all...

I am searching the web to answer my questions. But i want to ask for any help, any links and ideas, where to shop, what to look for and the best places to start.

I dont want to build a engine just for it to break just after finishing it

Ill try to not cut any corners and build the best engine I can.

I want to build the engine then make swap so the car can still be driven.

I will also do as much of the work I can.

I already have a jdm B16A 5204715 (B16A1) sitting at home.
I bought the engine and box for $300

Now on the search for other parts that are needed :D

I Drove couple of ek's and ej's. I do not like the way they drive. I still prefer Eg.
What kind of help do you want?
If you building b20 vtec, just build once and build it well.

Wow ive had the engine build idea for a while and ive been meaning to start it lol

I bought a b16a1 jdm motor had 180,000km on the clock. clean motor. It was in a crx that was used in some Targa races (street race/ rally) and might of had a bit of work done it..... Who knowsssss.
The b16a was ran with a motec ecu (or something. I remeber reading up on it but cant remember what type it was) which wasnt a good mix for the car.

Engine and Box $300.
Plus a few d looms and bits and pieces.
And i got to pull it out, more fun when its not your car

I just got my b20 engine
It is a B20B8 with 80,000km. Came out of a hail damaged 2000 crv.
Stock engine, very clean.
Engine plus loom

Sent door to door for $600


So I am not sure when i will start the build but it will happen.

In some ways Ive been doing some work towards this build.
I repair a cashed car that had lot of damaged done to it. Fixed the body damage plus full respray.
Been working on the Crx's ie engines

Hey i had a quick look the other day and it doesn't look too bad at all. I had a crx in the shed so didnt get a good look.
I did rap it and moved a lil bit, so I'm hopping its that.
I was looking at buying the hole car at some stage and the engine did run.... well.......... lol
How can i test it any ways ???

I don't know why you would care about external oil leaks if you're planning b20/vtec conversion.

Heres a quick update

B20 vtec has not been started lol

Been busy with work so dont want to start the build yet.

Painting the car has been force due to the car being side swiped in the car park.

Update no engine swap lol

But car has been fully resprayed.

Im back working at home so could start the swap. A problem has come up tho

I am buying a crashed dc2 vtir cheap so now i have a b18c to use in my civic or one of my crxs either way i now also have a brake up grade for the civic lol

so b20 vtec in the civic or crx

I have one crx with a few bonnet vents (had a turbo zc, now seized zc) which I wouldn't racing.
I wouldn't mind a k20 in one crx
