looking to buy my first mod - cai.

buying them from ebay - was wondering will the tsx cai system fit in properly?

Yeh I believe it is a DIY install. However, if you have no experience in this field then I would take it to a professional as the bumper bar needs to come off slightly for the CAI to go in and sit properly. I am getting a local performance shop to do it for me :)

definitely DIYable depends how savvy you are, you could just remove the guard liner in the fender that should do and probably the battery as it would make installing the mounts alot easier but it comes with instructions

also, would this mod be considered defectable?

Nope. Got pulled over when i had my Injen and nothing happened to me. Primarily because the police officer could not see it and I also think assumed it was enclosed. You can get defected for pretty much anything that isnt stock.

You you had an SRI with an exposd pod filter then yes that is defectable.

i have done mine
been in there for a while now

no issues yet

Pretty easy to do. The instructions that come with it are pretty crappy though. Not defectable, got asked about mine and he said that was fine as the filter was away from the engine. Just be carefull in wet weather as there have been a few cases of people hydro locking their cars.

Pretty much anything that's not stock can be classed as a defect. Depends on which policeman/women you get

Not really... If its legal you wont get defected. If its not then you will get defected simple

Your Injen CAI will be detectable but most of the time the coppers won't notice or know.

It is DIYable because I did it and that was my first mod and I had NO car modding experience whatsoever lol. The guide is pretty crappy and confusing but it gives you some good points which allow you to work it out somehow.

BTW It took me 1 day to install HAHAHAHA

A whole day?! It only took me 1/2 day to install the Icebox... And I had to take a knife and shave in plastic moldings
Lol

Alright alright guys I told you I'm not that much of a grease monkey but learning more and more....

it was actually 2 days but 1 day of working time LOL .... cause I was too weak and couldn't pull off the PVC (triangly pipe thingo)

Just saying if a person who has no experience with cars whatsoever can do it then so can you :) .

1 day is the worst it can take....

Next thing I'm going to install is my exhaust..

Headers and exhaust should took about 3 hours. Make sure you get new gaskets do not reuse the old ones

any advise?

Fredoops

CAI.

Header won't do that much with the OEM 900 cell cat, replacing both at the same time required a fair bit of cash

heat soak could be an issue. After extensive reading, I will be getting an icebox soon. Dont want to loose low end torque and to me offers more practically with city driving.

the power increase from the intake is very minimal imo, wont make a difference in city driving

the sound from the intake is a different story
