Hey guys,

Just having some issues with my airconditining system on my DC5 which I noticed today.
When I turn the airconditining on it makes a feignt noise, almost like air trying to escape from a small crack. The air-con is also isnt cool when it is turned on.
I have a feeling (from reading forums etc) that there is an issue with the compressor, but just wanted check whether anyone had a similar experience, or have possible knowledge of what the issue might be (and also the costs in fixing it).

Thanks

If the noise you are talking about only happens when you first turn on the air con, it is just the liquid refrigerant expanding to vapor as it enters the evaporator / indoor coil.. Which is normal
If it continuously happens, it is a leak.

Are you testing your air con while you are moving or stationary? For th system to work properly there has to be air movement over the condensing/ outdoor coil either by fans or car moving

Thanks for the reply,

The noise happens continuously, although it is much louder when I initially turn it on and I have also tested the aircon both stationary and whilst moving, and in both cases it isnt cold...
I will get a mechanic to have a look sometime this week (if I can find time to visit them during opening hours!) but would you happen to know roughly how much the cost of fixing it will be assuming it is a leak?

Thank you so much for your reply :)

It is to hard to say how much it will cost if it is leaking. It all comes down to where the leak is....
