View Full Version : ek4 front end problem help!!!

hey guys and girls
i have an ek4 and have recently noticed a problem, when i turn i get a knockig slash clunking noise from the front, so yesterday i jacked it up checked the rack ends and tie rod ends and they seem to be ok, im just having trouble diagnosing the problem any help would be highly appreciated thanks

its not my cv joints cus its not when im moving lie if i just sit there and go lock to lock then it will do it thanks fo the help tho

Could possibly be the steering rack moving from side to side as you turn the wheel.... Something like this tho I would recommend taking it to your trusted mechanic to diagnose as we cannot diagnose something we cannot hear

have you got coilovers / Front Camber kits?

Crappy coilovers with the camber tops are shit. the springs move and you hear clunking /other noises as you turn the steering to either left or right full lock. I.E G4's, D2's, K-Pros etc. (from experience)

if its not your CV joints then something is loose or your have a loose sussy bushing/mounts.

take your car to a suspension place, I.E Pedders, they do a great deal in sussy inspections like 100+ points check and they will tell you exactly what is wrong. Unlike mechanics they are often limited to what they know, but a proper sussy place will direct you to the right light of path! :)

Make sure all bushes are in good condition, all bolts are tight, and that anything that shouldn't move isn't.
