go to 7day wheels and tyres in granville and ask for Fred

they sell Kuhmo KU31 for $110 each for a 17inch. KU31 are pretty grippy in dry and wet.

otherwise ask for silverstones - they are grippy too but wear out quickly due to the soft tyre compound. (depends on your driving style)

What size tyres are you looking for, and how much are you prepared to spend?

KU31 is a very decent performance tyre, but for the best grip the Hankook Ventus RS series are the best I have used or maybe the Toyo R1R.

KU31 is a very decent performance tyre,

x1000mil..

ive used KU31's on my forester XTi and EM1 and never had any issues..

Just make sure you get the correct tyre LOAD for your car.

I second the Hankook Ventus RS tyres, they're awesome!
GT Radial Champiro HPX's have never let me down either, brilliant tyre in the dry!

you could get Federal 595 or KU31, but I would pay just a little extra (and get heaps of quotes) and get re002s.

I like the old expression: "Buy the best tyres you can afford". How much you can/are willing to spend is a factor, but with tyres, you generally get what you pay for.

Re002s are street tyres, while R1Rs are track oriented. The OP said 'road use' so he's after street tyres.

I used R1R's for approx 7,500km worth of street driving before I stepped foot anywhere near a track with them. If you read tyre comparison's you will find that the R1R's actually end up being in the same class as RE002's, Eagle F1's and all those top end performance street tyres

Just get the ku31 they're a good tyre. Run them on an appropriate tyre pressure and you won't have sidewall problems bro.

You know that federal RSR are easily superior to re002 right?

i was VERY happy with my RE001's
i hear RE002's are pretty damn good too =D

i paid around $160 a point for my 15"s

tyres was probably one of the best performance upgrades i did
the RE001's replaced toyo proxes
they improved braking, handling and acceleration ALOT =)

next time i need tires im not going to hesitate with spending a bit more to get something really kik ass
