Hi Guys,
I've had a Accord 1995 that cranks but will not start. Got my mates CRV to try and jump start the thing but no go.

I was driving the car fine all day yesterday, fairly hot weather, went to grab a coffee, came back out and car won't start.

Car is sitting at 245XXX kms, major service done at 195XXX and another service done at 224XXX(spark plugs, oil changed, oil filter).

At first i thought my battery was gone(but all my lights, sunroof and stereo works fine). Opened the caps on my battery and poured water in. Got it jump started(as mentioned already) no luck.

Left it there, went home and did some research. Other people have problems with this as it's usually the main relay.

Car sounds exaclty like the one in this video(the start):

Came back 3-4 hours later to try and start it again. no luck.

got home at 4am, did some more research and their should be a humming sound when you turn the key twice.

CD5 Accord
1995 VTI Model
F22B Engine.

Talked to some mates about it, one guy says fuses, sparks or dizzy. another says ECU. but i honestly think its my fuel pump/main relay. I have not checked the fuses yet, as my car is parked 10-15kms away from my house.

Before i get it towed to GT Hyper Auto in Springvale, was wondering is there any last suggestions before i get it towed?

was looking at getting a smaller second car as a back up end of this month so don't want to spend that extra dosh ATM T_T.

thanks for reading/helping

Is it manual?

Have you tried bump starting?

But i do think it may be the fuel pump/main relay.

The main relay should be in the fusebox under some odd name.

ok. so heres whats happened so far. i disconnect the battery the second time round but just the black connector. left it there and walked off. reconnected and it will not start. came back after 15mins and it started.

drove it probaly 50KMS. a few stop and starts. then the car stopped working again. T_T

mates reckon its sparkies.

This same thing happened to me ages ago.

I diagnosed it as a lot of things but at the end of the day a new battery fixed it all up.

the main 12volt relay in a cb9 is under the dash

When you turn the key to ON, do you hear the fuel pump prime? If you don't, then it is your main/fuel relay. If you hear it prime, then check your distributor cap for corrosion on the contacts inside.

Just to let you know I have not read the whole thread, just had to replace the IGNITION SWITCH on the back of the barrel ( where your key goes in ) Honda supplied new shear bolts with the new switch so it's really only a 10 min job if this is your problem, it would crank but once it "ran" and the key returned to "on" the reds(dash warning lights) went out, the switches gum up and become brittle, just a heads up, try holding it half way between on and start, (just enough so the starter shuts off) if it runs you have found your problem...
