Only if the battery is flat!!! :D

Just kidding ... I assume you mean a push button start as with the S2ks. The answer is NO they are not push button start ... although plenty of people in the states (and possibly here) have retro-fitted a start button from an S2000 (cool but a bit of a gimmick in my opinion).

but they are just a switch..how much can a switch cost?

if you know how to wire it up....go to an elecronics parts retailer and buy a switch...sure it won't have "start" on it...but is that really necessary?...especially if you hide the switch...someone stealing your car would have trouble messing with the ignition wires if they have been relocated to an unknown spot..oh..i just gave myself an idea...

Pivot/S2k Start button cost a 100+ dollars. Think exact pricing was 120 dollars. You can get cheaper one without a secruity option.

ITRs dont have push start, but it is easy to put a push start in.
S2K pushstart can be used, or you can buy Pivot push start buttons (S2k push start is expensive)

hes a pic of mine, it was installed in japan before i bought the car :)
sorry for the size.:p

quangsta - I'm assuming that you use the key as usual until the "ON" position and then push the button to start

ABS was optional so that could be another reason for cluster.

it depends on how you wire the thing up:D
reliability is up to the installation

i had a push start on my EK Civic.. Couple of dollars for the little button half the size of a 5c piece.. from Dick Smiths.. Then got my friend to wire it up for me..

problem was i kept getting electric shocked everytime i got out of the car.. any way i could prevent that (ie grounding the wire or something?) if i put one in my new car??

i just took my standard cluster apart, and painted it :) (fake cf makes my eyes twitch LOL )

as far as i know... the 96 and 98 spec clusters are NOT interchangable, because the 98 spec has an extra plug for the cluster.
mine is just a 96spec cluster, the ABS light on the 98 is in a differnt location.
also the aus/nz spec cluster is different to 96 and 98 spec :)

well da wiring could b done professionally but the button could be crap or somfing and not click properly therefore not being so reliable just like fone buttons after awhile the buttons get worn and u have to press really hard...

Well if ur a professional car staller a start button would do you good :D It just another rice gear. COz you stil need to put ur dam key in to use the start button. Why not just turn it the full way LOL.

My mate just bought a dc2r 2000 model and its got a push start. It looks exactly like the ones off the s2k's.the car isnt modified so could it have been and option from honda?????

Sp3rMz
23-02-2005, 10:13 PM
You know what it could have been? It might not have been an option they offered Type R drivers, but while buy a brand new type R they probably bout OEM from the honda dealer and got them to install it. Which is kind of an option but it wasnt an option that acutally came with Type R.

S2k button $110 from Honda, never an option most people just fitted it as a gimmick. Just turn your key all the way.
