View Full Version : thermo fan not working
hey guys, I have an ED9 CRX converted to OBD-1 running a B18C7 using a Neptune Ecu.
My Thermo fan is not working, the fan itself runs directly off the battery.
the fan plug has 14v with no fan connected, when the fan is plugged in it reads 0v.
i have swapped what look like the appropriate relays and still having no luck.
any ideas??
thanks guys.

Reason why when you plug in the fan plug into the engine fan plug loom and reads 0v ..
1) this is because the temperature sender is not sending the signal back to the ecu to activate the power to the fan plug (engine side).
2) Your temp sender is dead.
3) the wiring conversion is messed up
4) The Ecu has this feature disabled
5) have you checked the FAN power polarities? - some fans work off from the negative power source rather than the positive power source. this is triggered by the temp sender to ecu which converts the signal to negative source (very uncommon).
Best thing to do is buy the davies craig thermal switch for the fan direct.
This kit involves having the thermal probe installed into your top radiator hose and and clamped. (copper material).
then the sender/unit needs to be connected to your fans and power source. e.g. IGN ON and not direct to the battery.
Then let your car run until operating temperature and then turn the knob adjuster on how often you want the fan to turn on and for how long.
Otherwise go back to your drawing books / mechanic who did the conversion and get this sorted.
Having the fan directed to the battery power source or IGN ON without having any sensor/signal to trigger this is not good for the life of the fan nor the voltage current from the fan being always on will cause your car abit of strain on the voltage current (loss of power).
hope this helps.
thank you, will look into that option!
cheers.
