Ok spent another four hours in the garage today working on this bay...
used a wire brush to clean up some of the back firewall
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan7/2012-01-08194307.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan7/2012-01-08194321.jpg
and here are my main two tools for grinding
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan7/2012-01-08161707.jpg
So I cleaned up some of the new fill plugs
before:

and here is my bay as it sits currently

So we decided that it would be better to weld everything verses weld some and mud some... so I spent the first part of the night trying to remove all the filler we had previously laid
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan14/2012-01-14164806.jpg
then cleaned so we could weld
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan14/2012-01-14164737.jpg
had a lot of troubles with the welder. I had to go get a new tank of gas an then had to go get new rod as I ran out of both... then we couldn't get the welder adjusted correctly at first so it was welding like crap. We eventually got everything smoothed out and it started welding smoother

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan14/2012-01-14200839.jpg
spent hours grinding lol

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan14/2012-01-14212819.jpg

and then welded up the other side after I cleaned out the filler

So I spent around 5 hours today working on the damn car... man this is a lot of work... and I feel like I haven't even made a dent in it!
so here was where I started
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15123825.jpg
pain in the ass and no where done
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15142949.jpg
started griding and didn't like how it was looking
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15123835.jpg
so I, yes I, rewelded it.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15162704.jpg
also rewelded the bottom of this section
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15163044.jpg
and added more filler to the side
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15163121.jpg
then started focusing on the other side
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15143054.jpg
grinded down
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15163222.jpg
started the sides
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15143107.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15163211.jpg
and spent a lot of time here
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan15/2012-01-15143117.jpg

Looks fantastic dude, keep it up!
May i ask, the purpose of re-welding, what do you achieve exactly?
I understand the grinding it down so you can smooth it upon so you get a smooth finish but is the welding for structural integrity? or so you can achieve a 'shaved' engine bay?
Thanks bro :)

The welding has several purposes. One is strength. Like on the strut towers and around the motor mounts. It adds extra strength to the factory pinch weldings.
The second purpose is to help add material so I can grind and smooth out the bay. This will also allow me to use less filler which has a tendency to crack.

So I took a break from the bay today and focused on my engine. I just wanted to seperate it from the trans and get it on a stand. I will start working on it from here now
So here is what I started with:

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan22/2012-01-22135901.jpg
Then I started pulling off the supercharger, harness and misc

and to be safe started boxing up all my parts lying around

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan22/2012-01-22145808.jpg
Busted the engine hoist back out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan22/2012-01-22151537.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan22/2012-01-22151952.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan22/2012-01-22154459.jpg

redid my FPR again today while I'm finished up welding.
So I made a template
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27170054.jpg
cut it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27170349.jpg
smoothed it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27171631.jpg
drilled the holes
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27172036.jpg
test it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27172557.jpg
bolted it where I'm running it
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27172839.jpg
welded it quick
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27173335.jpg
and sanded it down
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Winter%202011%20Shave-Tuck/jan28/2012-01-27175157.jpg

Spent four hours in the emergency room last night. Went to the hospital around 10 and didn't get home till 2:15am this morning.... couple xrays, some shots and lots of pain.
They say I have Pleuritis. It's in inflammation of the pleura. Thats the tissue around the lungs I guess? I can't breathe in deep or turn my body or its hurts and feels like a sharp pain as if I had a broken rib.
But that didn't stop me from being a car nut! I came home at 2:15am and at 8am I was up and in the garage working on the car.. luckily they gave me some shots to relieve the pain
