View Full Version : I WANT TO TUNE MY EURO!!!! melbourne
Heaps of threads on different ECU and piggy backs and so on, but no clear answer.
Clearly, there is benefit of tuning the EURO, but what is the best way to go about it?
I dont want to lose my cruise control.
What do you guys recommend and why? Rough cost? Place to tune it?
VAFC2?
Hondata?
K pro?
Emanage?
im willing to tune and report back with results, the good and bads of whatever way we go in regards to ecu!
So what ecu!??:confused::confused:

hondata reflash from TSX, but you will have check engine light with EVAP errors (just ignore them)
E-manage or VAFC2 just waist of money and no any good gains ;)
Only these options available now if you don't want to lose cruise control.
Best gains you can get only from Hondata K-Pro + K-tuned dual harness ! But no cruise or VSA.

Haltech Interceptor.Reasonably priced, easy to tune, local support, can drop VTC crossover.BUT you need a good tuner.Adrian from TODA did mine but i'm in Sydney.I picked mine up 2nd.hand(1 yr.old)$300.00 plus $500 for install and tune. You don't lose cruise,no CELs in 3 years.

You don't change vtc you can lower vtec

You can remove Hondata reflash CEL's by replacing the your EVAP canister and sensor, as well as the fuel tank pressure sensor with USDM sensors.
I got the workshop manual on how to do that.. Somewhere, the parts are $250-300 dollars.
Its come down to two units:
Haltech interceptor-plenty of positive reviews but few negative reviews too.
Greddy ultimate- tuner that i spoke to prefers this unit, and i read i lengthy thread on this particular unit and feedback was positive.
Thoughts please before i buy...?

Out of them 2 the haltech.
What mod done to the car and what are you planning to do.
If you planning more then intake headers and exhaust i would get neither

some folks in the honda circle nicke name haltech as "craptech" which I always find amusing.
Greddy is more 'tuner' friendly cause a LOT of people use it across many brandsof cars.
Minor mods such as exhaust and k&n cai.

hondata reflashed TSX ECU is best one for such mods, you gain more with it then with Greddy - I did such compare long time ago ;) And you pay less for reflashed ECU then greddy + harness ;)

Hondata is 1250.
Greddy is 500+600 tune so pricewise its the same.
With hondata, do you lose vtc or cruise control? And hondata come
Pre tuned doesnt it? Also read few people had probles using them so
I dont know...

I mean Hondata reflashed TSX ECU, not Hondata K-Pro - it's two different things. Read cearfuly all words. You can get used TSX reflashed ECU by Hondata for 500 in the USA. Only CEL light with EVAP error which you just ignore and all works like with OEM ECU.
Much more problems with Greddy, believe me !!!

most piggy backs are useless for full tunning solution.
kpro by far the best reflash second best that are currently on offer.
Currently my mechanic is working with doug to test flashpro i will be the gunie pig and may also be testing the heel toe auto unit. Not sure how these will compare to kpro but will be shown soon
If you hold on to your socks i would suggest that many tuning systems may be coming

flashpro can work only with TSX ECU, it's not possible that it work with our OEM ECU's as there is no full CAN-BUS support (same for TSX 04-06 ). I had a chat with Doug long time ago. If we swap TSX ECU from 07-08 it should be possible that Flashpro willl work, but it should be tested - EVAP errors can be disabled by flashpro as there is such options.
Heeltoe unit would be something like piggy back (but with tuning options only for TSX) as it would require harness which conects unit to oem ECU.

I think that with K-Pro it's possible to gain a little bit more power then with FlashPro. What I don't like in FlashPro is that only 5 VTC settings available: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 or 0, 15, 30, 40, 50 degrees, in K-Pro you can have 6 like: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 - so it has 4 tables more in total.

Not just EVAP mate. You get 2 cel codes, EVAP and fuel tank pressure. Hondatech/Jtune found that out when they were trying to adapt the Hondata reflash for the Accord Euro.
And it's $400 there abouts, not $500. BUT there is an Australian tuner that had adapted the Hondata reflash for the AUDM ecu. Jtune is their name, they charge $1250 for an Australian "Hondata" reflash.
Incidently, some iceland dude had the Hondata reflash done at SEMA back in 2005, with a Euro spec Accord (same spec as AuDM except dashboard plastics), he had Hondata turn those 2 CELs off, he been running it since. Seems that EUDM and AUDM ecu are VERy similar.
I agree with e-manage, tuners prefer it cause it's easy to work on, not that it's a better solution.

Ktuned kpro? Cause Hondata discontinued their TSX dual harness years ago.

not K-tuned K-Pro, but K-tuned dual harness for CL9 + K-Pro. A lot of talk about engine managment and nobody reads all lines .... Fuel tank pressure is from EVAP errors pool, I know all error codes as did scan with Honda Diagnostic tool.

So it IS the k-tuned stuff.
On an interesting note, since the ecu Is getting "hotwired" anyway and you lose cruise/ VSA or both, why not use an AEM EMS 1040 or v2??? Does the same thing.
Hell, why stop there? Why not a motec m84 or one of their other race ecu's for that matter?

K-Pro is more friendly to tune, a lot of good E-Tuners which makes full tune from logs and it costs only 200 USD. For AEM or motec tune you will pay much more.... also who will make plug and play harness for you ???

AEM (which only cost 20% more than kpro) uses the same ktuned harness. So does the motec

then compare features and tune price.
For Adis best solution would be TSX ECU reflashed by Hondata, it's my suggestion if no any mods like aftermarket camshafts, VTC 50 deg and etc. would be done on car ;)

I'd agree with you, if it's just I/H/E (which is 90% of us) a Hondata/Jtune reflash is enough.

Jtune IS Hondata.......
or ar you suggesting to mail your AUDM ECU to the other side of the world and have your car out of action for X weeks?
The part numbers dont match what the Hondata specifies however, unless you're suggest we buy a RBB-AXX ecu?

Jtune is Jtune, Hondata is Hondata...
why you want to mail ECU to USA, Hondata don't do reflash for AUDM - forget this. You just search and buy used TSX ECU and with Marcus from Heeltoe help send it to Hondata for reflash or just search in USA forums who sells reflashed TSX ECU by Hondata. End of storry.
I suggest you to read this Thread from begining.... because you don't undestand.....
