Hi Guys

Decided i want a fun sporty daily driver as the 323 turbo is a bit much + it has no A/C

i was thinking of a DCR5 but price has made me consider the gen5 Vti-R prelude as its pretty much 1/3 the cost for a decent one lol.

Anyway what i would like to know is what are the rust spots/common problems with these cars? i hear atts is the shit but its quite rare so ill probably be getting one without it.

are they like bmws where if properly maintained they last forever? and if someone is allways giving it a good go with high rev's how do the gearboxes cope?

Thanks

**edit** was searching like a retard
ATTS is on the cards, will most likely go for it. what to look for for that? or will the atts light stick if its got issues?

Would just be like any other car. But if ur getting auto, the 97 98 models have poor gearboxes and tend to fall apart when given a hard thrashing . Other then that, i don't think Preludes have very outstanding issues to look out for. I never had any rust or problems with mine and if you find a clean one, neither should you. They're reliability goes with all Honda engines, treat it well and will last you a life time

I currently own a 97 Prelude VTIR BB6 in Tiptronic.
I know the gearbox will die however a manual conversion works out cheaper than repairing the auto box.
Other than that they are a brilliant car to drive. Great cruiser and a also loves a hit.

Throw on a mugen twinloop and hit the vtak. wouldn't want to be on the business end of that

avoid auto, and take a particular look at oil burning. A little bit is normal

Nothing much really. I've owned mine for almost 4 years...nothing is broken. Still accelerates hard and has great fuel consumption...

Look for a manual. Make sure it starts and drives smooth. Check the oil level when cold. Listen for any weird sounds. Try to check all the electronics...

If the previous owner looked after it, the oil level should always be above the bottom dot or close to full. I generally top up half a litre at a time...

Do the minor and major services on time and it will be reliable.

My odometer just hit 270,000km. I bought it with 170,000 ;)

i thought mugen didnt make a mugen twinloop catback unless you mean get a catback and chop the twinloop off and mount it onto a custom exhaust and sell the bpipe?
