20864Just like to share with those fellow integra followers, my story that covers the re build of my LS Integra race car.
After 10 years of state racing and club days in Victoria, my first engine gave way to a spun bearing due to an oil pan issue. I found a guy by the name Andy that owned and opperated a place in Mitcham Vic called A.K Automotive. Well what a big mistake that was, the engine lasted one weekend at the island. The engine failed due to an inferior brand valve breaking, causing my whole engine to be turfed out. He and his partner John shut their bussiness and after a year of chasing Andy managed to get a B20 block and another B16 head. He rebuilt the bottom end only to be pulled down by my current on very capable engine builder Simon Gardener and Mike Conway of Powerplay in Cheltenham.
Simon built my original engine and now he rebuilt my new engine.
So with the B20 block rebored to take 85mm forged high comp racing pistons with ceramic coating and low friction side skirt coating, fitted to Carillo rods. The block also gets a block girdle to help the sleeves from shifting. The cylinder head got a race port treatment and the ITB had some trick mods to the butterfly shaft to help increase air flow. Toda spec C2 cams and oversized valves fitted. Exhaust header a Toda work of art.
The lightweight racing flywheel was replaced with another and lightened further and a Tilton twin place 7 inch clutch fitted.
I have Autronic engine management and race technologies data logging DL2 Dash which allows you to see your laps, sector times, speed, revs G force, and so much more.
The engine will be fitted into the car in the new year and im very keen to see what this baby pulls on the dyno using 105 race fuel due to the the 12:6:1 comp.
This race car was getting lap times of 1:51 at the Phillip Island track with a 1.8 Vtec engine only putting out 118kw at the wheels. Im very keen to see what this new engine will do.
I plan to be at the island in Feb 2012 with this car hope to see some of you guys there. Look for a Black LS Integra with a big wing on the back. Come and say hi.
Thanks Gary
