Hi guys,
I’m currently rebuilding the engine of my ’92 civic. I need to get the piston rings replaced. I asked Honda for genuine parts, they cost over $100 per set. And that is one set per piston. So that’s over $400 for my engine. How critical is it for me to buy genuine Honda piston rings? I can get rings from autopro that’s made in Japan for $85 per set, and the set covers all four pistons. And it is the same story for the crank shaft bearings.

Thanks for all the help you may offer.

John

Honda rings are pretty good IMO....i'd be weary of what autopro are selling.

nothing fits honda like honda

when it comes to rings on a stockie OEM all the way

if your building a hottie then you would be spending more anyway.

what about your bearings ????? priced them yet

Hi
Go with aftermarket pistons. Eagle are pretty good but quite ex. But like ECU-MAN says, if you're building a hottie than you need to spend more money anyways. Think it over, spending more money on engine parts and making it strong is always better.

A trak, would u be able to give us a rough estimation on how much hannys charges for a full rebuild?

If you keep your engine stock, don't use aftermarket piston. Just $15 different. Not worth to take a risk.

Where do i get OEM piston rings from?

The bearings are $48 a set from honda. I need all four sets...

I've been to Hanny's. He said it will cost me $2500 for an engine and tranny reconidtion. I don't think he uses Honda parts either. I've done the tranny my self for under $300, got the engine head recondition for $380. all i need now is piston rings and bearings, and may be a new timing belt.

Thank you for your inputs guys.
