Hey ozhonda peps,

Wondering if anyone can tell me if a ctr ecu will work with a b18c engine?
Will it be straight plug and play?

Many thanks.

CTR is for B16b ecu.

What are you putting the ECU in??

Yeah i know its for b16b but will it also be compatible on b18c engine?
Cheers

depends on which model of b16b you got it out of.

So long as its the same ODB it will still run pretty well.
If i rem there was a guy on an old thread who tested various ECUs on his b16a, from type r to CTR ecus, they all worked, but end of the day the right one actually made more power.
If you want tuning then go for programable ECU

correct if im wrong, but isnt each ecu tailored to the tuning of the engine, cams, ignition etc etc, so it makes more sense just to use the correct ecu from the beginning >?!???!? lol

If its more to do with ecu chipping than it shouldnt really matter as ur gonna use ur own mapping and tuning anyways afaik

If you're going programmable, Haltech might be the way to go for a complete mapping solution

if its a EK9 CTR ECU it will work, though you may not be able to obtain the full potential of the motor displacement 1.8L vs 1.6L (ECU mapping).

The EK9 PCT ecu 96-98 is OBD2A without immobilizer so if your DC2/R JDM B18C is OBD2A then it should plug and play.

once u plug it in and fire her up, watch for CEL codes. if you get a CEL code, its most probably a sensor missing etc.

I wouldnt run the CTR ECU on the B18C

fuel and timing maps are different, the engine would run leaner, lean mixures kill engines.

Hes right too...

So if ur going to use the ctr ecu watch for cel codes and check your timing.

1 or 2deg off is ok but over that will def kill your motor!!
