Hi guys,
I'm Marc from England and I drive an EE9 Civic.
I thought I'd sign up and see what the Aus scene is like, as I'm coming to Australia for a year or two in April (after spending 2 months there last year), and wouldn't mind hooking up with some fellow EF enthusiasts, as I may end up buying one to drive about for a while. I expect I'll be staying in Melbourne most of the time, but will be in Perth/Cairns/Sydney too.

Here's a quick pic of my Civic - 'the Speedboat' - which I love to bits...

Hello and welcome Marc!
Has your civic got automatic folding mirrors?

I have manual folding mirrors from an EF2. I did have EF9 electric folding ones but they were too heavy for me

EE/EF/ED same same

All the same underneath lol

Did the UK market get the EF2 sedan with single piece headlights?

Marc_EE9
04-01-2012, 08:14 PM
lol true, but they're not the same car, they have their differences
EF is JDM
EC/EE/ED is the rest of the world

so no, we didnt get EF2's lol, we only had one sedan, the ED2 D14A1

no way? thats a shame man. not even an F/I version?

when i was in Melbourne/Sydney last year i saw loads of 4G's, only three CRX's though, two were EF8 siR imports.

Nope only carby sedans and hatches. We did get the crx with the efi zc motor but.

And there's lots of imported EF8s getting around. A few conversions as well.

Gidday mark and welcome. My youngest son lives over there, in Ashford, Kent, so he's not exactly a neighbour (works in London)

2 things your EE9's got, one you can do without, the other you'll wish you had. The one you'll wish for is the A/C, the one you can do without is the sunroof.

I know a few people in Ashford, its only an hour or two away, and im only half hour from London, but who wants to go there lol

I don't want A/C never have, and definately don't need it here in the UK. I prefer the sunroof, and the weight differences are minimal. AC was a dealer option in the UK, none came with it as standard, and all 4G Civic's have sunroofs here.

I think hondapop was referring to when you will be in Australia.
I don't think any of our dealership delivered EDs had a B16.

ow right, well im not bringing my car with me hahaha that would cost me thousands! not unless i decided i wanted to emmigrate...

did you get the DA6 XSi with the B16? I know you have the DA9, i may look for one of those instead, as im not a lover of carbs and i know my way around an F/I engine

I think we were expecting you to buy a car here. We're a pushy bunch like that :p
I'm not very knowledgeable, but I don't think we did.
No B16 until the EK4 VTiR.

yeh I think your right

whats the average cost of say an ED3 or DA9 with road tax/mot (i forget what you guys call it)?

Red_EG4

take a browse on carsales.com.au
I believe our road tax/mot would be known as "On Road costs" (vehicle duty/transfer fee) and registration costs.
carsales.com.au gives you an idea of the fees on some of the vehicle ads

Me too mate!

I love my EF and know it inside out, as well as most other 88-91's. I've had a few, and parted a couple out. I also have a soft spot for Peugeot's, as that's where I started.
I had a daily Shuttle 4WD last year that got into Banzai magazine which was pretty cool.

My previous cars:

1992 Ford Orion 1.8D
1996 Peugeot 306 Dturbo
