If you don't care about power but want some mad sound, get an SRI like a whale dick. Don't waste your money with replacement air filters like K&N, HKS etc (unless you fancy the washableness(?) of them)

End of the day, exposed/loud pod = defectable. You're not gonna get a "sexy" sound with just an air filter in a box

edit: remove your intake resonator if you haven't already, that'll give it a bit of noise

Hook up a megaphone near the intake inside the engine bay.

LOL, nah I definitely don't wanna get defected, but i'm just aiming for a smooth sound I guess, not an exhaust to send off alarms lol

Option 1: Record a NSX at full song. Play NSX sound through your stereo (I think at least one company actually did this).
Option 2: Get a better muffler for a throaty sound. Don't get a cannon, just a good muffler. Talk to an exhaust place about what you want.
Option 3: Save money, sell the GLi and buy a car that will respond to mods as the GLi isn't one, I know as we have one as the missus' daily driver and even she says it's gutless :D

Option #2 is the better as you can stay legal, do it on the cheap and get decent sound. I say this from experience as my Beemer's 2.7l 6 burbles along nicely with a bigger pipe and decent, resonant mufflers (2 standard sport plus a hotdog) compared to the normal quiet whimper. SRI etc = power loss as you are sucking hot air in etc etc and anything else is a waste of money on that motor.

Alright thanks for the tips mate. Likewise i don't wanna waste too much money on this engine cause i know it's way better swapping it and such, thats why I aint going for power lol

Just take your resonator out. It'll definetely be noticably louder. At full throttle it will be roaring no doubt

remove all of the stock resonators, stock intake pipe and stock airbox
jump onto ebay and search for a simota whale intake kit - they are about $120 posted
takes 10mins to install it and it will sound great

or if you have a few more $$$ to spare and want something thats a bit better quality (the simota kit is good but not top shelf)
look into a brand named Fujita - they make a really good quality pod and some nice kits
