Hi

I'm looking for a stock replacement for the front struts of a 2002 DC5 integra. The front left strut is leaking oil and I would like to replace it with a standard replacement rather than anything fancier.

The workshop I took it too said they rang a number of places and couldn't find any stock aftermarket replacements. They quoted $510 per strut for new original honda replacements but he agreed that it was too expensive.

Does anyone know where i can get some?

Cheers
Adam

Where are you located? If your located in Melbourne, PM me.

You should be able to get KYB, Monroe or even Koni OEM replacement

I've used the online product finders for KYB, Monroe, and Koni and none of them list the DC5 Integra, only earlier models.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

It's because Koni probably uses the american naming for the cars. In the US, the DC5 is not an Integra, but it is an Acura RSX. So the part number you are after is:

So i'm still looking for these. I contacted the Koni distributor in Australia (Top Performance) with the part number listed for the Acura RSX and after being initially told it was correct when I went to purchase them I was told it is incorrect and they do not have any suitable parts.

Does anyone have the actual part numbers of any suitable shocks (Koni, KYB, etc) because no one i've spoken to has been able to recommend a part for me because nothing in their database matches the DC5.

The part number above is correct for the DC5, however it is not a complete replacement strut. It is an insert that requires the original strut leg to be cut open, the original damper unit removed and then this unit bolted in to the case.

Aside from coilovers that is your only real option. The Strut design is too expensive for alot of aftermarket manufacturers to bother with. This is due to the tie rod link on the strut...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to senna again.

Thank you Senna

You are the first person that I have spoken to who seems to know what's going on. What do you think the best option is then? Cutting the strut body apart sounds rather complicated. The OEM struts from Honda are around $500. Would coilovers be a comparatively priced option? And if so do you have any suggestions for the coilovers?

Ultimately it comes down to who is doing the work and what you want as a result.

If you get a suspension specialist to do the install, there is nothing wrong with the Konis at all, we do it all the time.

If you don't mind the car riding a bit firm then coilovers can be good value for money. The Tein Street Advance kit is quite good and it will retain some comfort. 2 month lead time, but they are only $1370 for a set of 4

Hi all,
How did this one turn out. I have a Honda Integra Special Edition 2002 DC5 with a seized front driver-side shock and a leaking passenger rear. Car has only done 82000 kms. Can see lots of Koni's on Ebay 8610-1415 Sport (front) & Koni 8010-1050 Sport (rear) from the USA for a Acura RSX DC5. Will these do the job ? Thanks in advance.

I'm also keen to hear how this turned out. What strut did you end up getting?

I purchased Koni's (2 x 8610-1415 Sport and 2 x 8010-1050 Sport) from Ebay (Valexracing in the USA). The cost was $840 AUD for the 4 shocks, including postage. They are to be fitted tomorrow. The front are "inserts" and the rears are complete units. Inserts seem to be standard for the industry where manufacturers do not want to make the complete strut unit for whatever reason. If you went Honda OEM, the fronts would be complete struts units but you are looking at $500 each and the rears about $400 each. I will know tomorrow but I am reasonable sure everything will fit OK.

I am happy to report that the shocks were fitted by City Suspension at Springwood (just south of Brisbane) with no problems. The cost was $300 plus $95 for a 4 wheel alignment. They fit them fully backed off (softest setting) and are still quite firm. Technically these shocks are fully adjustable on the car, however City Suspension report that to adjust the rears would require a considerable removal of interior to get to them. So if you are buying these on the basis of being fully adjustable, then you need to be aware of this fact. Otherwise they perform very well and I expect to get a long life out of them.
