I have a electrical problem with my 2003 Euro. If i don't drive my car for a couple of days when I go to start it, the battery is flat. No problems if I am using my car daily it starts perfectly.
I have had the battery checked out by a so called expert, and he says its good.
To double check its not the battery I took the battery out left it sitting on the bench for three days and then put it in the car and it starts ok.
Does anybody have any ideas where I should be looking to find this.
I have checked all the obvious stuff, there is no interior lights staying on, boot light is off.
The only thing that does not work on my car is the pop up headlight washers. When the dealer did the power steering hose recall it came back from the dealer with this not working. Could it be this ???

I recommend getting the dealer to fix the headlight washers.

The other thing is to check how old your battery is. A battery which checks out as good can still be poor at holding charge if it is a few years old. When they check, they only have a look at the acid density. They don't actually put the battery through a few hundred CCA draw to simulate an engine starting.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yes battery is 4 years old, but it does hold a charge for more than a couple of days when I take the battery out of the car, which it cant do with the battery in the car.
Headlight washers ??? I was trying to avoid going to the dealer as they charge more than a doctor and ten times less competent. (as witnessed by the headlight washers) :thumbdwn:

if they caused the washers to stop working you should tell them that then. should fix it then without charge.

4 years old is pushing it. I'd say the battery is due to be replaced. If you take the battery out of the car, there is no drain and hence it keeps charge. If you leave it in the car, it still has to power your alarm system and remote receiver. So after a few days, the battery goes flat since it is not holding much charge to begin with. I had the same issue, except that my car would start if I left it there for a week max. If I left it there for longer, the battery would not have enough charge to start the car at all (remote unlock still worked though!)

As for the headlight washers, you need to let the dealer know that it stopped working only after the recall was carried out and you want it fixed up at no charge. You will need to discuss this with them properly as they will always push for the coincidence excuse. I assume you have checked that the headlight washers spray when the HIDs are on, right? They don't spray when the lights are off.

Thanks for all replies.
I have bit the bullet and replaced the battery with a Supercharge MF55B24LS for $110
1st battery = 5 years and six months and still going ok when it was replaced
2nd Battery Supercharge N60LS = 3 years 2 months

I will let you if it fixes the problem.

Supercharge MF55B24LS is a good battery, right up there with AC Delco's equivalent of the size (Supercharge has 450CCA vs the 430CCA of the AC Delco too).

What makes you say that?

I was thinking of getting a battery from there soon. Where should I get it from?

Get it from your local automotive parts shop. Support local businesses!

maybe your headlight washer was some how disconnected when the dealer had it. just make sure your headlight is switched on when using your headlight washer

Brother in-law took car in to replace battery and they charged $195 for what looks like your standard 'heavy duty' century.
I am sure its a good battery but for that price I could have gone with a yellow top Optima
