Which one's better? The roads are pretty good where I'm at and i did the calcs.
My car is unlowered.

45 series is 1% slower, 40 series is 2% faster

40 is cheaper, most of the tyre places recommend this for some reason because its closer to the stock dia of 175/65/15 (quoted from them)

some of my friends say 40 isnt much difference in sidewall height anyways.

Hop onto the internet and some people say 40 is way too thin and prone to rim damage. It doesnt fill the arches as well.

I am using 40 but my car has lowered. If you are not planning to change suspension or springs. You can go with either ways

205/40/17, stock ride height, way too much gap. looks horrible
Now running 215/40/17 but lowered.

It is quite thin

I wouldnt advise 40 series if you can avoid it.

Too bumpy and harsh
