I tried to remove the air con belt today (eg civic). I've read the manual and it says to loosen the tensioning bolt on top and it will come off.....yeah right
I've removed that bolt and I can see where it should be sliding down but it won't budge. Is there a trick? Or is mine just rusted or jammed in there. I've been bashing at it all afternoon to no avail.
thanks

you have to put that bolt back in, but not all the way, then you loosen the 14mm nut on the idler pully itself, then keep undoing the 10mm bolt until the pully has moved low enough so you can take the belt off.
the fun doesnt stop there,
to get the old belt off the car and the new belt in you have to take off the side front engine mount, as you will notice the belt is held in there by the mount.
take off the under car spalsh sheild from the LHF area. take the 19mm nut off the mount then the two 12mm bolts that hold it to the chassis. then slide the mount off and then take the old belt out and put the new belt in, and put it all back together in reverse.
