You must use Honda ATF-Z1. They are right. Using nulon ATF our Dexron 3 will damage your gearbox

Save a few bucks and risk damaging your gearbox which will cost a few grand to fix?

You serious?

Small short term savings can be tempting, even for me. I've been down that route. Ended up with a CD4 gearbox that needed to be rebuilt. The clutch pack munched itself up into mulch which then blocked the internal strainer. I lost 2nd gear out of the 4-speed auto. Rebuilt cost $3000 and even then it was never as smooth as before. So after that, always used Honda ATF/ATF-Z1 for Honda auto boxes.

So it's not a silly question because those aftermarket fluid companiess do say in their vehicle application guide that Honda autoboxes can use their Dexron III crap! Yet there is a small disclaimer that indemnifies them in case your gearbox shits itself while using their fluids.

well least i asked, i only knew the power steering required Honda branded fluids but never knew the box also required a specialised fluid =.=
Tai: wouldnt aftermarket oils be considered generic, yet so many ppl use different engine oils, same concept in this case.

No worries, I already have lots of rep, so I don't need more. I'm just on here to help.
