I need to adjust the handbrake cable on my EK, I've already tried adjusting it using the adjustment behind the handbrake lever it self but it's already done up as far as it can.

Is there away to adjust the cable at the brakes.

An old thread but can it be fixed or would he have to replace the cable?

without using the cable.....

drum brakes can be adjusted by taking the wheel off, taking the outside of the drum off,you will see a toothed wheel in there, turn that with a screwdriver a couple of clicks, this moves the brake shoes out a little bit,put the drum on,spin it with your hands, there should be a little bit of drag but not so much that it cant do a full rotation.

with disc brakes at the back of the car instead of drums,i think with hondas there is a screw on the back of the caliper that you screw in which moves the piston in,screw it in until there is a little bit of resistance when you spin the wheel, not too much,it should be able to do atleast two turns after you spin it.

get the brakes to those resistances, then use your handbrake cable adjustment to get the handbrake how you like it,if the cable is already at max and its still not a good handbrake then your cable is stretched and it needs replacing....recheck the resistance on the back wheels by spinning them with your hands after adjusting the cable to ensure they can still spin a turn or two
