Hey Guys,

Did a bit of searching but couldn't really find anything that covers this

I've driven a heap of cars in my time and i have never had one with such a light clutch as the one in my EK daily...

I own an XR6T with a textralia Twin plate, thats heavy sure, my Mrs owns an 06 Focus, the clutch is relatively light but has pedal feel....even my old Hiace workvan from my first job out of school had more feel!

The civic is like there is nothing there! Fluid is clean and at the right level, clutch engages fine with no slip, but after almost a month of owning it i'm still surprised at how easy the pedal goes down...

Normal? Not normal? Shuddup and stop whinging? Any info would be good guys

You will find that the majority of OEM equivalent clutches these days are really light. I have been noticing this trend for the last couple of years as I am always getting customers coming back saying "is it supposed to be this light" and the answer is yes. The reason for this is that the majority of older customers who drive manuals are driving in stop start traffic and thus, demand that the clutch is nice and light, so that they don't get a ripped left leg within a week of driving their car.

Senna - did you bleed the clutch for air pockets etc?

also check the condition of your clutch reservoir lid.

Yeah, bleeds up nice, fluid is nice and clean etc - its just mega granny spec!

Getting used to it now though, been driving it non stop so its gonna hurt when i get back in the falc...

my OEM clutch had a nice feel, not too soft and not too hard...

maybe your clutch master cylinder is bout to go?

is there alot of free play on the pedal? if so adjust incabin.

No, i wouldn't say free play, it engages around 2/3rds of the way up

Can't imagine there is a major issues, its been driven by a girl all its life and it hasn't got 160,000 on it yet - has had a new clutch since the original, but just standard replacement as far as i'm aware...

Honda clutches are light. If you drive a manual Euro, you'll find that the clutch is lighter than even the EK1 civic!

You will find alot of people on here will fit Exedy, but I find that Xtreme do just a good a job and personally I can get them cheaper than Exedy

Yeah...i fried an Xtreme cerrametallic in my falcon in like 6 months, was the biggest POS i've ever used as far as clutches go, welded itself to the flywheel twice and had to drive the car clutchless for around half hour until it came loose - in saying that though every clutch brand is different in different makes and models, i know heaps of people use Xtreme

Hmmm - i'll decide when the time comes, the clutch still works fine its just annoying being so light
