Hey guys

i got an ek gli hatch, the hand brake isnt functioning properly..
- it has disc brakes
- Handbrake adjusted from behind the lever
- Brake pads still 80% meat
- Disc has no signs of premature wear (no lip or anything)
- I took out the pads to see, i sand it down to get rid of the glazed and it was still the same

it works only 5%, pretty much when i pull up the handbrake, the wheels still turns. And it makes this clicking noise from caliper..

any ideas? Any way i can pull it apart and inspect it?

by the 10mm nut on the cable underneath my armrest. I was told by benjaminn when he did my rear disc brake conversion a long time ago

youre supposed to jack up rear of car, handbrake all the way down,
tighten nut until rear wheel locks up when handbrake pulled up 1 click.

you probably didnt tighten enough.

either way, jack up rear car and check cables on rear calipers

no i did that.. checked it all.. its functioning but wheel isnt locking up.

I thought it could be something inside the caliper its self

I cant tighten the handbrake anymore, its already pretty tight as is

yes you do tighten the hand brake from the calipers.. the lever adjustment is more a fine tuner. Its a bit hard to explain via internet however correct way is stated in service manual. its along the lines of loosten the 17mm nut that handbrake line plate attaches to on caliper, pump brake pedel few times, pull handbrake up few times, leave handbrake on 1st notch and then tighten the 17mm nut down.. loosten the lever adjustment down to about half way before you try this, the handbrake is annoying to do and took me about an hour of playing around to get it perfect but since then has been awesome and fully grips on 6th notch which is OEM spec for EG
