Well I never thought I would say I bought a Honda but... it's a 93 Civic sedan with 1.5 auto so you won't find me in threads for engine transplants or manual conversion kits. Just want to maintain it and enjoy driving it.
What I would like to know is any common faults with fuel injection or autos, point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Would like remote central locking too.
Cheers.

Welcome to the Honda world.

Earlier Honda auto clutch packs tend to pack up if the auto hasn't been regulary maintained.
Also you may encounter distributor & main relay problems, but overall they are pretty reliable.

Have fun with your civic

Thanx, and yes, very enjoyable to drive and just like every other honda owner i have spoke to it's had a dizzy but thats about it.
The auto does seem to hang but so do the revs at the same time so I was thinking injection.
Auto is due in another 2000k.

Welcome abourd mate

What colour is the auto fluid right now?

Right now it looks a bit transparent with an orange tinge, not burnt brown or black.
Maybe the old owner topped it up with motor oil?
It groans like an old manual box when you accelerate in reverse.

Could be that it hasn't been changed in a while.

What state are you located in?

If you are concerned about the quality of the fluid, take it to your mechanic and get them to do a fluid change with genuine honda atf

Well the gearbox is ok. The car has stalled twice now after starting. Also it has been hard to start a few times now (ie. more cranking that the norm to get it to fire) so i think it is time to investigate the injection further.

Would it have anything to do with the main relay as stndrd has stated?

Anyhow thanx for the warm welcome guys.

If your finding it hard to start try the below before leaning towards the FI.

1) check/replace spark plugs,
2) inspect spark leads
3) inspect/clean/replace dizzy
4) check IGN timing.

Seeing thar u just bought the car, i would recommend that you change all the fluids - minor service for peace of mind.

Car is religiously serviced and as stated has new dizzy.
It is only the odd occasion with the hard to start and the stall, which happen separately, not simultaneously.
On the whole it is a good clean reliable car.
Cheers.

Excellent but still shouldnt stall or rather.

Check yo IGN timing and clean your IACV or adjust the RPM idle 600-750rpm

Will check the timing soon but the problem is intermittent, has not happened for two days now.
I think i will rip the throttle body off and give it a birthday.

I have nailed the problem down to ethanol fuel, since I've owned it I use 95 or 98 and it has been ok but the other day fuel was well over $1.50 so i did a splash and go with that 10% etho crap and the symptoms came back, filled with 95 and after a tank full the car is back to normal.
