http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2012/02/honda-moves-up-civic-update.html
Honda is accelerating its plans to update the Civic, Automotive News is reporting. Although it's selling pretty well, Honda's redesigned-for-2012 Civic has been panned by critics, tarnishing the brand image of this perennial compact-class benchmark.
Earlier reports suggested that Honda was planning a midcycle refresh sometime in 2013, but Honda officials at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas announced that an updated Civic will come out this fall, just 18 months after the new one debuted.
With the 2012 redesign, the Civic got fresh styling, a new specific high-fuel-economy model and, many argue, a cheaper interior and overall feel. It sounds like Honda's update to the Civic will address those faults. Details haven't been released, but Honda has said the changes will be "significant."

Bought one, VTIL manual, Polished metal (grey metallilc colour) only accessory is carpet mats. $22500 driveway. Pick up sometime around 15 May. Rear end of the car is not the nicest but the car is really well finished, drives great and is a cut above the comparible competition for this size of car. Now just have to sell my old GD 2004 VTIS Jazz...

Ormeau Hills (half way between Bris and Gold Coast). Haven't advertised the car yet as my new car is still like 10 to 14 days off yet and I still need wheels to get around.
it's a 2004, vivid blue, one owner, manual, always garaged, looks like it's done 40k. It has done 197,000 but still drives awesome. i don't thrash my cars. Will be sold with RWC, 5 months rego. Every receipt, every service document etc is available. Honda serviced from new until 150k and then by my mate who went out in business by himself. he's an A grade mechanic. Has new Kuhmo Tyres at 184,000. No issues with the car, just a big stone chip in the bonnet and a cracked front left driving light lens - driving light still works.
redbook says 8600 to 10,400 for a private sale. not looking for anywhere near that as I will be looking to onsell this Jazz pretty soon after getting the new Civic. PM me if you are interested. My price will be very realistic and well below the bottom of redbooks private sale price. Honda offered me $5,500 as a trade... they weren't that far off the money I wanted. In short, i want it gone and I want very little interaction with people that want to stuff me about etc etc. In short, i reckon the first person to see it will buy.

"almost same"?
No, but my point is, does it matter. They're both mass-market cars, if the new Civic's tail-lights look like an old Camry's lights, does the front end look like a Delica because it uses the same wiper system.

The rear end look could be improved, at other angles the car looks great. From a driver and passanger point of view the car is great.

and the interior is awesome ..the steering is like a F1 steering with lots of buttons , u can't really operate it while driving ...
leather everything on the seats .....
the dashboard ... as reviewed was a bit "cheap" .... but still acceptable
BUT
the "cockpit" is freaking awesome ...
it has like a "3D' effect on the 2 bars on the left and right of the speedometer ...
the one that helps you to drive at the most economical ..
the econ button .. erm ... i do not know seriously ..
not much of a different to me if it is on or not.. so for efficient fuel driving , i just left it on
... unless you going to floor the pedal and do a lot of overtaking ..... you might feel the difference with the econ button off...
the exterior ... well ....like all the critics have been saying .. the 8th gen is better ...but Honda said that the changes is for the fuel efficiency
so i guess there is always PROs and Cons to it ...

sorry.. the leather is awesome
i mean the dashboard....was a bit of a downgrade
seems that they went with a harder type of material on the 9th gen .. rendering it looks cheaper than the 8th
the 8th have softer material ...
i do not have the car to compare side by side , but base on what I can remember ...
but with the awesome display ... you won't notice much of the dashboard anyway.. :)

i have the Civic SI launch on June 4th. Looking forward to it.
Civic Sport will have Sat nav and reverse camera and smart key when it arrives next month from thailand.
There will be a Vti-l and Vti-LN also. The Vti-L is the same as the current jap one but the Vti_LN gets sat nav and camera, rain sensing wipers, smart key, auto head lights, chrome door handles and i think fog lights.

The only thing thats missing from my VTI-L is the sat-nav and the smart start!
Persistant rattle on my 3 month old Civic. Seems to be coming from dashboard passenger side around or inside the glovebox or the glovebox itself (which is empty).
Only started noticing it last couple of days. Most annoying when driving slowly over corrugations or holes in the road. Anybody else getting any rattles?

Picked up my new Civic this morning. Told them I would be at the dealer at 830am and they agreed. Guess what? Dealer was closed! Confirmed the pick up time yesterday! Waited until 9am. Got the car, happy with it but got it home and found that the service record book wasn't filled out at all. No name, no car details, nothing but a blank book. Looked closer at the car and it had a Southside Honda sticker on the rear window with Von Bibra Honda number plate frames! Pretty poor I reckon and a complete lack of attention to detail by this dealer. It's obvious to me now that the car was in stock at Southside Honda. About the only thing they did for me was beat the price of any other dealer. Will be going back on the first service to get the book filled out properly (like it should have been done the first time!). That's about it, I won't be going back.

been driving my civic 1.8 since early march, fuel consumption is exactly what the sticker says. fuel consumption shown on i-MID is very accurate, has been doing own calculation every time i fill up the tank. usually drive on urban road, getting around 7.8l/km.
one disappointment on the car was its i-MID. saw quite a number of options on US civic like auto-door lock when traveling above defined speed, check on rear seatbelt, etc but couldn't find such option in my civic :(

Guys, I have a japan built civic and the VTI-L badge is peeling off!!!!
Now I only have the car for what...3 months?! anyone know if Honda will or can fix this?? Maybe a re-badge will be nice...
Not happy with it!! other than that the car is fantastic, the only downside is the plastic interior that get dirtied/scratches so easily...

Remove the badge, car looks clean without it.
To say the least I rolled my car out of the dealership, home, then removed civic and VTI badge.

I think this is more about the fact he doesn't want to people to possibly think he bought a VTI, because you always need the climate control/filters/alloys lulz

What Darrell said! Go complain to your dealer, that should always be your answer to your thought who do I see about this? and contrary to what mclol said cosmetic styling is a personal choice and shouldn't be dictated or laughed at.

Seeing a few around and about now, was tailing a blue one down canning hwy this morning through south perth, and yesterday a black one parked in kings park and last week a white one outside the health department building lol.
I swear all I can focus on are those god dam brake lights and how it just looks so out of place, its like a halo crashed into the car.
Guessing the bad mouth the reviewer gave the engine its an R18 yeah?

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation.
Where abouts did this happen? Did you have anything on your backseat or anything desirable to the low life who did this? As the cut looks pretty deep, try and get some touch up paint on there ASAP just to prevent anything worse from happening :-(

Happened in my carpark which is a public access carpark in Melbourne CBD.
I come from a country where carbreak in is common , so nothing is left in the car that would attract criminals.
It happened in the night and I would think that .. there was only few cars on that level which the thief decide to break 2 cars that night.
Until today, I have no idea why the person broke into my car. Nothing was taken . Not my belkin charger, my usb thumbdrive, the dollar coin ... Nothing!!
The touch up paint would not cover the damage. I would need for someone to do the body work , to make it all smooth before using touch up paint on it ..
Although the window have been fixed now , the dink there just too distracting to me .. :(

I meant to put touch up paint to ensure the bare metal wasn't exposed to the elements, to prevent rust etc. :-p

The rust is like the last thing on my mind ...although I know that will be a problem later..
apparently the damage is so bad, it is not call a "dent".
it needed to be sent to a panel beater..
So does anyone know any panel beater that can do a small job .. around Melbourne area?

Hi Guys,
I got into a really bad accident a month ago. It was collision with another car as seen in the picture. Lucky for me the Honda Civic lived up to its 5-star Ancap Safety rating and I was not hurt.
23168
Now I'm having my car fixed but the problem is that there are no parts (see below..) available in Australia and even in Japan (according to Austral Honda) and it would take 3 months for them to produce the said parts for my car.
Parts not available for the next 3 months:
L/H/AIR BAG 77820TROE80ZB
L/H/DASH PAD 77821TROE80ZB
CONTROL MODULE 77960TROW01
CLOCK SPRING 77900TR0921
The car was really performing well during the 4 months of driving it. I couldn't really ask for more. It was performing as advertised. I'm just frustrated with the after sales support because its our only car and since the accident we've been renting a car which is starting to drill some holes in my pocket.
Has it always been like this with Honda with regards to their after sales support?
Is there anything I can do to resolve my situation?
Thanks in advance.

I've contacted Honda Australia last week and got in touch with someone. The person I talked to said he was able to procure a particular part to be delivered in Australia this week but as for the other parts, I've never heard any details yet.
According to Austral Honda (the dealership where my repairer was coordinating with for parts), they've also tried finding the parts from other dealership but they can't find one. I don't know how much true this is but if it was, I'm just worried for other honda owners who may have the same problem as mine in the future.

Don't bother with the dealership, they'll only be really motivated to order the parts that provide them the most amount of profit.
Keep bombing Honda Australia, also leave feedback for the service of Austral.

sorry to hear
if i'm not wrong, doesn't the passenger airbag deployment usually spell a write off?
Jasemas
15-10-2012, 10:31 PM
Usually a car is a write off
When the repairs of a car cost about 60-70% of what the car is worth
It's a write off because reparing it is un-ecnomical for the insurer so they just pay you out for the car
And if you do go with that decision they'll sell the car to pickles and make money off of it
Or
You can buy it back for 10% of what it's worth and try and repair it yourself
If you live in NSW - you CANNOT re-register a written off car (eve nif its able to be repaired)
Just a heads up
I'm just curious about the structural damage
I.e the front fenders, radiator support beam, bumper, lights, etc.
Glad the car put a dent in that P.O.S hyundai

if it is a structural damage , most probably will be a write off anyway ..
Most write-off vehicle usually are sold off for parts ..
anyway , my weekend DIY dent repair ...
