hey guys, i have a 3rd gen and was wondering wether they have an air flow meter connected to the stock air box? or do they have 02 sensors connected to the extractors instead? i ask, because i think the meter or sensor might be fu*cked thus creating the wrong ratio of air and fuel; and making my car run rich......?

thanks

Honda's don't have air flow meters in general. Honda EFI uses MAP sensor instead (Manifold Absolute Pressure). It has both MAP and 02 sensors. The mixture is controlled by the ECU receiving info from the MAP, 02, coolant temperature, throttle position sensor, road speed sensor, rpms etc. So if its running rich it could be any number of these. What makes you think its running rich? Are your spark plugs fouled? Also, Hondas tend to run a little rich (for engine safety).

What he said, no airflow meters here. What makes you think it's running rich?

Isnt there a O2 sensor somewhere near the end of the extractor?

Yeah, on the 3rd gen you'll see two 02 sensors poking through the heat shield.

awsome guys. thanks

i think its running rich cause its blowin dark smoke and i chucked i pod on and i thought maybe that stopped the 02 sensors from balancing the fuel/air. but the rings are prob just stuffed...was hoping it might of been an easier option!

nar i havent...is the orange light the indicator light to say the 02 sensors need replacing?? ..

not just O2, its to tell you that there is a fault in the PGM-FI ( EFI ) system

if the rings (by witch u mean piston rings?) are out u'll be blow'in blue smoke
