View Full Version : Extending the tip of the exhaust

Thinking of extending the tip of the 2 exhausts by 1 or 2cm, cause currently the white bumper is getting black from all soot/carbon from the exhaust.

Probably turbo is running slightly rich.

Not too familiar with exhaust or such shops, so any recomendation would be nice. Cut and reweld? bolt on chrome tip? Any shops around Sydney to recomend?

Another option would be a muffler guard like these

Those guards aint gunna do shit.

As the more u hit vtakk on higher RPM's the more black shit comes out and will travel all the way up to your headlights..

ill take pics of my rear end and u will get an idea .. :)

my tip is kinda out more than the rear lip and still get crap on the rear end :(

I had the same problem with my EP3. Even if you do extend the exhaust you will probably still end up with a black rear bumper/boot.

possible solutions:

- wash your car more often
- rub dirt on the rest of your bumper to make it less obvious

wouldnt be able to place a piece to extend it out as itll look like sheit
will have to change the muffler or chop it from the muffler box and re-weld a longer piece

One of the below methods should work ..dunno if it will pass defects :P

The Kitten kit will minimize the sound and will filter all the black carbon crap out of your exhaust.
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g37/kegger1454/exhaust2.jpg

This Method will vent the exhaust out into the atmosphere UPWARDS, therefore your rear bumper/boot will be kept clean.

This method, will definately minimize the sound, and will eliminate the black carbon out of your exhaust - at the same time it can prep a nice fat burger on the go..

If anything, you can get the exhaust shortened rather than lengthened, say.. Near the rear LCA somewhere pointing away from the rear bumper.

But if you care about how your exhaust looks and gives you them extra jdm points, it's not such an option..

dump pipe....

dump pipe....

The car does have a dump pipe lol.... regardless of external screamer pipe or internal its still gonna have the same problem occuring

Most turbo cars are designed to run rich when pushing it, id rather have a car run rich than lean.... and most tuners tend to tune the car like that

Either get a retune so it doesnt run so rich or live with it and dont push it so much, but remember, having soot covered bumper is a dead give away to cops, so beware

Another thing, just get the muffler angled downwards to the road

dump pipe - off turbo

dumpy tip which has been advised to OP

http://www.rollaclub.com/board/uploads/monthly_07_2009/post-4470-1247391243.jpg

Many modified turbo cars with aftermarket tune run these due to rich fuel setup as OP has stated
